I'm currently on day 21 of vegetative stage and I'm just using soil and I have recently finished my first grow and I have little experience and I have 3 plants going in an older phototron with 3 x40w U-shaped full spectrum fluorescent tubes in it and I successfully grew a pretty decent little plant in it for all the people who are going to tell me that it's not worth using the phototron and I don't have any space for a tent and it was just a cost effective solution but I am experiencing a problem with 2 of the 3 plants with leaf cupping down and browning is starting on the edges of some and I am pretty sure that I might have overwatered? I don't know but I am just growing without nutes or fertilizers and I did it that way the first time but would spraying fish emulsion on the foliage of the one or both worth trying because I happen to have some and I have some dr earth liquid gold organic fertilizer but it's just a npk of 1-1-1 and my Dad used to use fish emulsion for boost in foliage growth or sometimes as a remedy for slow or struggling plants after the first 2-3 weeks and I am just at a loss....it's the 2 I have arrows pointing at and a close up of the one ???

Probably a touch of over watering. Wait for pots to fully dry out between waterings.

What you describe as 'leaf cupping' is caused by too much nitrogen. What medium are you growing in?

It's just Miracle Grow and I know that it's not ideal but unfortunately I didn't get the soil in time that I had ordered from my local grow store, also I have about an inch of sphagnum moss on top of the soil to help them retain moisture and mostly I use to keep them from stem stretching and it definitely made a difference with my last grow which was my first time growing. And I didn't use any nutrients or fertilizers yet which I didn't with my first grow and I am wondering if you had any input on what nutes or fertilizers that r needed without going crazy especially with never using them?

Nothing wrong with an Old school phototron. Haven’t seen one in years. Used its design to build my first cabinet grow. I agree that miracle grow is plenty hot without adding anything. some form of silica would help. Watering schedule is critical.

I'm sorry but what forms does silica come in and what do you recommend as mentioned I'm very green to growing and have not used any kind of additives(nutes, ferts or supplements) and the one is doing great compared to the other two and I just don't want to lose all three so I'm reluctant to start introducing nutrients and fertilizers due to lack of experience but I gotta start or I'll never pickup any knowledge of it but please let me know about the silica

Miracle grow is a pretty 'hot' soil, and would explain the cupping/clawing of the leaves. I believe it has some kind of slow release quality to its nutrients, and that flushing doesn't do a lot to clear any excess. This does support your position of not giving her extra nutrients. I would wait until you see signs of fan leaves fading to yellow slightly before feeding. A quick google of miracle grow says it can feed plants for up to six months, so you might not need to add any food at all. I was going to suggest getting a cal/mag product, but google again says that miracle gro contains cal/mag.

Did ur last grow do this? What did you change from last grow?
Nope I only had one plant first time growing and 2 of the 3 are doing it but the other one is thriving and this is a picture of the one that's doing good. But I haven't changed anything from the first grow that's y I'm confused. The second one is the best picture from yesterday I am just about to turn the lights on.

Coloration looks 'ok' im not seeing dangerous dark green. I'm leaning towards a bit of overwatering. What I've seen is once a plant gets a bit of water problems in the root zone they will look like that for quite a while as they try to bounce back, but once they do ur good to go. It looks like the 1 good pic is an example of you doing the watering right, the other pic is of you mothering them too much i think.

I am wondering if it's possible because they're in smaller pots than the first time I grew and I didn't use any nutrients throughout my whole grow so maybe because I am in smaller pots it's "hotter" than the first one which is this picture

I think that is it because I noticed that the soil was still a little damp on those 2 but only the bottom ¼ was wet and the good one has been on a different schedule for watering and being a new grower I admit that I am over protective aka mothering to much and I am due to water today but only if it's dry all throughout thanks for your input much appreciated!

If you're referring to the setup (phototron) then I will gladly upgrade to new equipment if you're willing to pay for it so that would be great!?...LoL

She looks pretty healthy. I don't think you've got much to worry about to be honest. I don't think the smaller pot will make the soil any hotter - it will mean the plant ends up a little smaller, and maybe uses up the available nutrients quicker.

The plant in the picture looks very leafy - I think I'd be inclined to remove a few of them, for better air flow and to let light into the lower flowers.
