About a year ago me and my girl went on a road trip to Cali. Got our cards without much to do, then headed straight for the highly acclaimed Buds & Roses dispensary where we loaded up. Yes, it was that damn easy. Obviously all the dubage was dank, not a dud nug in the place, and I have seen swag I would not buy in pot shops before. For my garden I got a Girl Scout Cookie clone thats sooooo good and a few TGA seed packs. I grew all the seeds from a Time Wreck pack last year, labeled them TW1-TW5. They all had their differences through veg but all grew wonderfully. Come mid flower I'm really starting to scratch my head as all 5 are as different looking and smelling as I've ever seen pot plants. "I'm thinking these all came from the same pack? I can't get high enough to screw up labeling this bad!" Some were tall, some were short. One smelled like shit, one smells like straight sugar dust from a mother fucking purple pixie stick its soooo good! One made fat hard dense nugs, others small nugs spaced out. All grown the exact same way in the exact same room at the exact same time. I've grown a lotta seeds ordered from seed banks before and never have I got so many keepers... BUT WHAT THE HELL DO I CALL ALL THESE WONDERFUL STRAINS?!?! LOL. This ever happen to anyone else? again I am NOT complaining. I hope the same damn thing happens when I get around to popping the 2 other packs I bought at the same time but have yet germ, and since I bought them off the same rack I'm betting they might. Another Time Wreck pack, and a Jack Skellington pack. To even think of growing 5 same seeds sucks balls now. Thanks for ruining other seed banks for me TGA, hahaa

It's called phenotypes. All are timewreck phenos

I'm aware.. but this would be like passing off a chinese baby, a black teen, and the lead singer from zz top as your biological kids to me. I've grown whole packs before (not TGA) I got males, females, and the females I flowered were different but also were obviously the same 'strain'.. Can phenotypes really very that much per pack? Same harvest, same plant possibly, and if not mixed up same strain. Completely different weed, high, smell, flavor.

They should show some similarities. I wish what we see in catalogs is what we get but I've bought greenhouse seeds and cane across similar issues . I personally was pissed. Makes a lot of note taking and hoping you got that pheno that's spot lighted in the image you saw when you bought it.

you have to grow them out, find the keeper and well, keep it. out of 5 vortex, i got the 1 i wanted and have had it 4 years now.

In order to find those rare, excellent phenos you describe, you have to keep the genetics pretty "raw". This means lots of phenotypes, often spanning the whole gamut of shapes and sizes. This is just part of the game with TGA seeds.

I've never grown TGA, but have had a similar experience with one of my favorite breeders....dinafem. I had some "Original Amnesia" and of the five seedlings 2 were amazing plants, and the other three were crap and looked nothing like the other two.

The strain was amazing enough for me to overlook the differences and still recommend it today....just expect to have a few grow out weird. The grow I'm referring to is linked in my signature link.

All you have to do is follow someone like Nugbuckets to see that if your game is on point there is a super dank female in every 5 pack of TGA

Gonna be controversial here, cause there is a lot of tga ass lickers around but... SOME might say, good breeders stabilize their strains so that there is far more similarities than differences in most individual plants. Some might also say, ANYONE can take a few dank strains and do some pollen chucking and voila a "new strain" , though the phenotype thing is what separates the chuckers from the pros. Sure the phenos might be mostly dank, but anyone can do that. And to charge Fem seed prices for Reg seeds while claiming not to be a sell out, I lol so hard.

I agree with the TGA ass lickers part but how do you argue with proof, if you take anyone that grows TGA that has there grow room dialed in there getting some of the best looking plants around, highest THC and some HIGH CBD out of a 5 pack everytime, A lot of the weed magazines are filled with TGA flowers just not advertised as such all the time. TGA is on top of the game right now just cause they don't contribute 10s of thousands of dollars to High Times so they can win a cup don't mean shit just look at the results real growers are getting with TGA and HGNW genetics

most people don't have the patience or attention span to wait out six generations...

not arguing with results at all. I know that he is in possession of some of the best plants in the industry. But I am just saying, the op says he has got extreme variety in phenos ,which suggests to me that very limited selection was done. I'm by no means a breeder, but it seems to me, when you get such a wide variety, (dank as they may be due to their parents) , there wasn't very much actual breeding done, more along the lines of pollen chucking which anyone can do, so to charge prices which are actually more in line with fem seed prices, (which I can understand due to the extra work than went in to making them) , I don't think it's right. To charge those prices he should at least stabilize them to 2 or 3 phenos.

For instance take yourself on a google voyage and search for some paradise seeds strains. Wappa for example, each journal is like a carbon copy of each other. Paradise, and DNA as well, sensi, the list goes on, have their strains down to 1 - 3 phenos and advertise as such. I grow mainly cindy from female seeds as some here know, and every plant I have had so far is really similar- they advertise that it has a graprefruit and pineapple pheno.. and guess what phenos I've had so far.. grapefruit and pineapple.

And about 5 bucks a seed cheaper than tga AND fems. I guess it boils down to, do you want those genetics that tga has bad enough to pay top buck for them even though they aren't stable. If your happy to grow a 5 pack out to find a keeper then a lot of people would say yes of course. I just think he shouldn't price it so high.

I guess the easiest way to put it is as a beginner yes you would want something stable but as a connoisseur you want variation

"...but anyone can do that."

Maybe anyone CAN, but not many actually DO. He found himself a niche, and it's paying his bills. People know what they're buying, and they still happily buy it. The good old law of supply and demand in action.

I can't fault someone for having a good business sense...

you can get a 10 pack on hemp depot for $80-100 which is not all that expensive if you look around at other comparable breeders. also have to factor in that TGA isn't the ones marking the prices... With that being said, the simple fact is some people really don't understand why he doesn't work down his genetics into "feminized" seeds.. Yeah, you found 1-3 pheno types but they were worked down through multiple back crossings. That certainly will affect the male parentage, taking more pheno types out of the picture and then making those genetics not as good as it could have been.. nothing against anyone who grows fem seeds, i just dont mess with them. I find it very cool to get multiple phenotypes so i can choose which one i wanna keep. ive grown almost 20 TGA strains and can agree that there is variation in all the strains, but ive always had a pheno that matched the description or was very very close to it. Stability has not been a problem from me, as ive only seen 2 pheno types out of very MANY, throw some nanners on me. Everything i have kept is very stable and very dank.

If its so easy and anyone can create award winning strains, then why havent you done it, puff? Most real breeders dont disagree with Subs methods because he and crew make amazing strains and everyone has their own way of doing things. They have far more amount of knowledge than any of us do, so why dont we just leave it to the pros why dont we?..... If you think TGA is ALL about making money then you people are entirely misinformed and need to not comment on something you know nothing about. TGA does more charity and giving than any other company in the industry out there. They help kids and patients, and they give a lot of what they have away. there focus isnt on advertising and paying HT to win cups.

Puff, I don't know about you but to me the spice is the variety of life.. who wants to grow the samething from seed over and over again... I guess if you only want the samething. But why not have a variety of phenotypes to try and choose the ones you really like and wanna keep. I think carrying phenos is a good thing. Personally I wouldn't buy gems either. What for? Hell if you get males and they turn out to be great looking males grow them out for trying your own crosses, or saving the pollen for later use.

Anyways that's just my point of view. Variety is the spice of life!
