I’m new to this site! I need clone help?

I took my first stab at cloning yesterday. Should I be worried about all of them wilting? I took 15 from one Scrogged mother, I won’t do as many next time:( I don’t know. I cut the clones with clean sharp scissors, put them in 6.8 ph cut of water, then dipped them in clone gel and put them into 3’ organic pots filled with fox farm happy frog soil. They’re in a dome outside, with very little ventilation just enough so the air can recirculate over time.

Does soil have nutrients in it? Clones dont need nutients til they root, could cause issues rooting. They love high humidity and low light...til they root.

Do you have a hygrometer to tell the humidity of the dome? Some strains are tough to clone, Should also have indirect light not sure if you have them in direct sun or not. Take the dome off a couple times for the first few days and mist them, exchange the air, and you may also want to trim or limit the size/number of leaves you left on the clones, They need roots to supply water, and they dont have any... So the least amount of leaves while still surviving is key. Leaves also transpire water when there are no roots (hence the dome and high humidity) so you want to keep that humidity high to provide water to the leaves through transpiration vs. roots) Like I was saying those, some strains are tough, some are super aggressive and root very quick, sometimes its a matter of overwatering your medium while trying to keep the dome wet and your stem starts rotting. I've used no hormone for years, I do now but didnt for a long time and havent had issues, Ive rooted in cups of water alone, and also had very good survival % in those bubble cloners (like 99%+) So try a few different ways, and be sure to double check you are cutting them in the correct spot. If you can, pictures would be really helpful of your setup so people can help you better. Good Luck.

They have been in direct sun, so there’s one problem. Plus, I’m not sure if I cut them wrong, I made sure their was at least 2 nodes and 4 leaves plus the top growth, but I just cut right into the stems. Also the mother I used was from a white widow seed. I think between not knowing where to cut them, and dry soil are the biggest problems..

Taking cuts from bottom branches of mother plant helps with rooting aswell, if you take cuts from the top tips, i found harder, and can take longer to root. Hopefully they will root, mj is pretty resilient.

I use ffof soil to, but when it comes to cloning, I've found that aero-cloner is much easier.

Yours in the soil should be fine, just keep em moist. 10-12 days to root. I never personally had much success with cut to soil, i use the Clone King.

Hands down one of the best purchases made to date. Cut your clone, dip it in Clonex, put in cloner, walk away. You can purchase on Amazon.

I use jiffy pucks to put my clones in, root hormone, into humidity dome 95% humidity, put under t5, pop dome for fresh air few times a day for 4-5 days , then i usually start to see roots sticking out of jiffy pellets, this is when i know they are ready for dirt!

Is that vent on your dome open? If so for first day or two keep it closed almost 100%... Get a spray bottle and mist the dome from 2-3 ft away to get a bunch of small droplets on... Do this about 4 times a day... Dry soil isnt the worst thing right now, its definitely not good but its better than drenched 24/7 and rotting your stem... Give that a couple sprays about 3-4 times a day for the first couple days every time you go to mist the dome... Your cuts look decent to me, and leaf ratio seems good too.. Take 15 bucks and grab a small acurite digital thermometer/hygrometer from amazon and stick it in there... Slowly open that vent after 3/4 days You can safely stick your finger in the soil to test moisture about the first day because it wont have roots yet, but get in the habit of weighing them by hand... lift the cups and get a feel for the weights of them, This will tell you when they need water they will be at their lightest, and after watering they will be heaviest, pick em up a hundred times a day and get used to them, do it when checking them... and baby them if you have to, sometimes you only get one cut to save a strain!...Lime is def right too, Ive had way better luck with the lower branches.

This was some good info! I opened it just barely to keep just a bit of circulation available. And unfortunately I Dident plan on making the mother the mother so I scrogged expecting to bud and instead turned to try cloning. Their isn’t really “bottom cuts” to be made considering the way I grew it! I will definatly get ahold of one of those hydro/thermometers, I can see where that will help! Thank you for the info:)

Full shade for at least 10 days

Also, dont worry about cutting them at a 45° angle, and scraping them (most newbies end up scraping too deep anyways.) They will root with just a straight horizontal cut no scrape, Just clean your blade, cut them at 45 if you want to help encourage growth, it gives more surface area for roots to grow, If you are going to scrape, dont go deeper than the cambium layer (the lighter green just below the "skin" dont go so far as the woody pulp inner section, and make sure to get them in water or the medium pretty soon after cutting. You can put a heat mat or seedling mat underneath to warm the bottom of the cup, that will also encourage rooting (just keep an eye on your soil moisture and dont let them dry out too quick from the heat)
