I'm moving to DIY country...

I suppose I should give an update as to how my trip to DIY country went...

It was interesting. I built the underlying structure around a bunch of ideas, but having never actually built a light before I had not fully grokked the wiring aspect. Then for various reasons things got rushed, and I learned a thing or two about trouble-shooting. I would definitely say that DIY is not for everyone, but I'm glad I'm in it now.

So, it's ugly as sin but it works! It is currently in a 4x2, but after this run that closet will be returned to being somewhere to put cloths, and I'll be creating a 3x2 in another space. At that point I'll re-position the outer COBs on sliders to narrow it down some. Since that will be a somewhat permanent home for it, I'll tidy up the wiring then.

I'm also going to be adding two more COBs, another reason I left the wiring all wild, for now. Currently its 4 CXB-3070/3000k, and 2 CXA-3070/4000k, but I have 2 more CXA-3070/5000's that I'll hook up for the next grow that will start from clones. The 5000's will be on a separate switch, and like the 3000's will have a dimmer. As I transition from veg to flower the 5000's will get turned off and the 3000's will come on.

Thanks again to @Tim Fox -- maybe I could have done it without his help, but I don't think I would have.

Some pics of the beast!

Here it is in all its glory, in a 5' tall 4x2 closet space...

These are the girls, but to give credit where credit is due, 99.9% of this growth is the product of a pair of Optic 120's with the lenses removed (the DIY was put in about two days after this pic was taken). It's a real 'survival of the fittest' jungle, with the GSC in the middle dominating and the WiFi OG on the left holding its own, the Chemdawg on the right is doing its best but having a harder time.

Why did you choose 72v one?
Do you plan to have a long wire between cob and driver or to run them hard?
If you don't and plan to run them softer in the future I would go for 36V!
Have a great day ★

I just thought it would be nice to be dealing with lower Amps in my setup :)
