I did for me! As long as your room/tent has negative pressure and all air is being pulled through the filter and out the room, you should be fine. BUT it's not 100% as I've read some growers say they have to supplement but honestly it's worked for me and many others. When I have my tent open to do work in it, I may supplement with Ona Gel depending on how stinky it is. Otherwise it's fine.

Yup, i have a phresh filter in a 5x5 and i havent smelled a thing minus opening my tent to do work. Then the house will stink

If a cop dog was looking, 'it' would find a grow in an instant.

I'm always picking up whiffs of my grow and have done all sorts to try and combat it. Its not easy and a C.Filter is only part of the answer. In the end I took the gamble and disclosed to my neighbors that I smoke (they knew anyway) so that any stray whiffs are attributed to me smoking.

I also sometimes pick up whiffs of other peoples grows when I'm walking about. a lot will come down to how many plants you have.

If you make sure all the air leaving is moving through a filter it usually does a good job. Don't buy cheap filters. And humidity will make them not work as well either.

Just make sure the filter is rated high enough to handle the cubic footage of your spot. To determine cubic footage use this formula:

FIGURE A: WIDTH X LENGTH X HEIGHT = TOTAL CUBIC FEET

My room is 12' wide x 14' long x 7' high so my total cubic footage would be

FIGURE B: 12' X 14' X 7' = 1176 CUBIC FEET

You want to make sure the total amount of airspace in cubic footage is exchanged at least once every 5 minutes or even better yet, every three minutes pretty much guarantees no smell everything is done right. You want to make sure both your filter and the fan you have connected to it are rated at least 1/5th (or preferably 1/3) of your rooms total cubic footage.

So in my example my room is 1176 cubic feet. To figure out the minimum rating I would use this formula:

TOTAL CUBIC FOOTAGE FROM FIGURE A. ÷ 5 = MINIMUM FAN/FILTER RATING YOU CAN USE

So 1176 ÷ 5 = 235

I need a fan/filter that does at least 235 CFM of air.
Now another thing in play here is that carbon filters work 2 - 3 times more efficiently when configured as a scrubber. A carbon scrubber is simply a carbon filter with a fan attached to suck air through the filter and spread it back out into the room. A filter configuration would mean it is connected directly to your cooled lighting system. This information is always on the packaging of the filter.

Good luck and god speed!

Mines works 100% when sealed. Can't smell a thing. growing some white widow right now and shes in potent flower mode. Skunky when the tent is open tho... I guess it can smell if you leave the tent open for too long. I usually just feed. run my diy ozone generator in the room for 10 minutes.

I use a Phresh filter and it eliminates the odor completly. My basement does smell some when I open my tent for a while to feed/water and tend to my plants, but a little Ozium fixes that. As long as you have a quality filter (Can, Phresh, Mountain Air, Phat, Rhino) and it's properly sized to your fan, you should have no worrys.

I have a 4" fan/filter and it definitely eliminated about 85% of the smell. You can smell it because I vent into a large room that is also my fresh air intake. So I am recycling some of the air and it's causing me to catch little whiffs. I then decided to add an addition 6 ft ducting the the exhaust side of the fan and that blows into an Ona bucket, basically clearing out another 10% of the smell. Plus i like to light candles and I try to keep wall flowers plugged in all the time. it's really a pain in the ass when you have a diesel smelling plant. Next time I want something much less odor.

No and everyone that tells you it does is just fooling themselves. Carbon will only remove so much, even if you slow your cfm's down below half the recommended rate you will still get blow by.

The only for sure 100% removal is through a ozonator.

Mobious is right a cop dog will smell right through a carbon filter in a minute.

Smell is the second biggest reason people get busted so don't take it lightly espesially if your not on the up and up.

Good luck

I guess smell is reletive to the person. Some people don't have as good a nose as others, but I agree with you and Mobious about the dogs. However, if you get to the point where cops and thier dogs are looking around your home, you probably have no chance of hiding your grow anyways.
