So i live in Illinois and let me be the first to say that i'm honestly fine with state troopers being cut by 1/3 due to budget cuts... probably one of the better things that could happen IMO.
So here's my story... just happened about 30 minutes ago. I'm driving home from class on the interstate just mindin my own business, cruise control is set at 65 on the dot, nothing illegal about my turck in any way shape or form other than 20% tint on my front windows. (the new law allows up to 35% if you don't have anything darker than 35% on the back, stupid technicality). Anyways, i look over to my left and i'm being passed by a little dickhead state trooper on his motorcycle, who was speeding by the way because i was going the speed limit... He looks over and see's that my front windows are tinted, hits his brakes and gets behind me.... When he approached my window the first thing he says is .. How many tickets have you gotten for these windows already and i tell him that I have had the windows tinted for 2 years and have never gotten pulled over for it. He goes on to be a HUGE asshole telling me that most guys won't bother me for it but that he likes to write tickets for the complicated laws.. and then starts to get all upset and says how big of a safety issue it is for them and that troopers get shot all the time pulling people over because they can't see through people's windows. He wrote me a 75 dollar ticket and took my license for bond and then told me if he sees me again with my tinted windows that he will charge me with a misdemeanor, tow my truck, hancuff me, and take me to jail! keep in mind that i was as polite as possible... nothing but yes sir and no sir... I have no criminal record, i have never been in jail other than on a tour, i have had only one traffic ticket and it was for going 5 mph over the speed limit on a motorcycle 3 years ago...
Now maybe im just venting a little bit here, but 1. i'm glad that this prick is about to lose his job (all state motorcycle cops in Illinois are gone by next year) 2. if he doesn't want to get shot then maybe he shouldn't be such an asshole to everyone he deals with... Now, I'm a nice guy and will respect a cop out of courtesy unless he gives me a reason not to, but i honestly felt like clubbing this guy in the head when it was over with 3. If the Illinois or any state troopers for that matter have nothing better to do than straight harass people over their window tint, maybe they don't need to be working for our tax dollars anyways. 4. they make a huge deal out of how state troopers are going to get laid off and crime is going to increase so much...yet nobody in the public really gives a shit (at least nobody i have talked to) because this is how a lot of people i have talked to get treated by these guys when they get pulled over.
Having said this, it's a good thing he was done being a dickhead for the moment and had no interest in searching my truck.
I guess the bottom line to me is that i have never actually been helped by a police officer, even when i had to call because my house got broken into. They came out to my house to investigate a break in and then started trying to flip the script on me and make it out to where it was my fault my house got broken into and probe me about illegal activity because coincidentally it was the second time my house got broke into.... So obviously i'm doing something wrong that causes people to break into my shit. That's another story for another time but... really, i can not think of one time that a cop did anything to protect or help me... but instead have always tried to find a way to write me a ticket or arrest me. Protect and Serve is the biggest load of bullshit i have ever heard and to be honest with you i will never even think to call the police again until i handle shit on my own. Someone breaks in my house, ill shoot and kill them.. then ill call the police. All i have to say is i'm honestly glad that these fucks are gone considering a decent amount of them are crooked anyways and are always using double standards. How do they expect anyone to give a shit and want to help them save their jobs when they act like this? sorry for rambling... just needed to get this out haha, anyone else out there feel the same way i do about all of this?
