Here is my timeline so far:

7/5/18 appointment at Medical Cannabis Outreach
7/9/18 application mailed out
8/28/18 Sent email to IDPH - received response that application was received.
9/4/18 still waiting - hoping for the end of September or first week of October

Does anyone know if the exclusion of background checks is being applied to already submitted but un processed applications? Or is that only for the newly submitted apps?

Congrats to all who have received cannabis cards already. I can't wait, I just bout some off the street and its un cured lol.

I was wondering the same thing. The website says that yes certain things in the bill could be implemented right away, but the temp cards have to geta system setup before the Can issue those. That leads me to believe that they would stop the background checks/finger prints first. I have not been told anything to confirm that but that's just my interpretation from what I read on their website. So if anybody has a definite answer I would like to know as well.

hey Guys. I have a few questions. Would it be better to fedex my application or fill out online. I have no check to track cashing so if I’m mailing I’ll just do a money order.

Is it better to register for the full 3 years or is it easy enough to renew after one year. Don’t want to go through the wait again in case of any issues but money is a little tight in the beginning of the month. I’m also a little worried about sending the 3 years fee and not getting approved. I have my doctors application all filled out and ready to go.

My sense is people have had equal success through mail and online. The renewal occurs without reapplying - you just pay your fee again. So, if you’re short on funds, 1 year should be fine. Good luck!

What I did was drop it in the mail via USPS. I had a check included and my timeline below to help hopefully. Also just a heads after I mailed they never confirmed the receipt if the application. I emailed and followed up with USPS.

Last Dr Appt (prints, photo, etc): 6/5

Dropped in mailbox via USPS: 6/5

Silence.... No confirmation of receipt

Late June I email and they confirm within 30 min receipt of application (generic message) but can not elaborate on timelines.

Check Cashed: 8/10

Application Approved: 8/16-8/20

Card Received: 8/27

I honestly followed this thread for months before even applying. It seems with the new laws there’s some grey area when the checks (prints and background) go away but if you pay online you’ll pay immediately where as if you mail it seems it’s once they’re processing that batch’s (usually a given week in a month) applications. I just followed this thread to see when people mailed or sent there applications around me (dates) so them hopefully I’d receive mine which happened. I would just do the 3 year if possible as I didn’t want to go through the process again but it’s worth it either way. Hope this info helps. It’s about 78-90 days from when they receive the application until you receive your card (given no setbacks). Best of luck everyone.

OK. So. It's back on.

After 1 week(insane work schedule labor day week) i got a hold of someone who told me there was a small change in the process and everything was taken care of earlier today.

Patients are supposed to mail some part in themselves or something...

Day 81

Hoping for it on day 90 but who knows.maybe itll be a week for approval and a week at the printers or something. I was pretty sure i was scammed for a minute because why would a dr office not answer the phone or call back?

Submitted my application Thursday afternoon, September 6th. I’m curious if the process will be any different now that there is no background or fingerprints, I’ve also heard of a preliminary card being issued as well.

We shall see and I’ll keep everyone posted!

Rauner finally does something right and signed a bill that will allow people that have an opioid RX to get medical MJ and don’t need the ridiculous fingerprinting or having to get a background check.

Desperate times call for Desperate measures. He is selling out to try to get re-elected, screw him. Same man who said Chronic Pain people should not be eligible at all.

Still waiting, days are long, nights are endless. I’ve never been so disappointed to see a value pack coupon envolpe. Good thing I’m headed to Vegas Thursday. Hopefully I come by next week to it. Until then....

They already stopped doing background checks and finger print checks on all apps even ones that are already turned in. It was one of the immediate measures to take effect with the new bill. So they should be moving faster but who knows if they are. I have my fingers crossed that they are moving faster either way

Thank you for confirming that! I wasn't sure if it applied to already submitted apps or not. your right, they should be moving a lot faster now.

I'm wondering the same thing. I sent them an email last week asking to confirm if background checks are still being ran on already submitted apps...still no reply. My app was mailed off 7/9.
I did everything through Innovative Express. My app was received and CC charged on 6/26. No card yet for me. I was hoping I would have had it last week based on others in mid-June who posted here in August. Hopefully soon.

My app was submitted 6/15 and CC charged 6/18. As of today I still don't have a card. I was told on August 31st I was approved and it will take an additional 15 days to receive in mail. Application was submitted with fingerprints and background check. I'm coming up on 90 days. They don't seem to be getting any faster. Hope this helps some people with a timeline. Seems like they are getting further behind with all the pain pill people submitting apps now. Who knows with this state...

Probably will take longer, because more apps will be applying. Hope I am wrong, but that is how I was looking at it.
