Yesterday I had to do one of the hardest things I've had to do in a while
My best friend winston had to be put down because he just couldn't hold on any longer.
I have had him since he was 7 weeks old. He's been by my side for everything over the past 10 years. I can't imagine not having him here with me anymore

I dk why im writing this thread I guess I just wanted to say or type this out to get it out.
Thanks for listening

Dude I know how you feel. We had to put down Plato about 5 years ago. A completely brilliant German Shepard who unfortunately developed hip dysplasia and could no longer get to his food or outside. We tried for 3 years to give him the best life possible but we simply couldn't let him live in pain. I've still not gotten another dog. My wife has two cats but they're just not anything like a good loyal loving dog.

My condolences.

My condolences. I know that no dog will replace your last one but you should get another one as soon as you feel ready. It will slowly ease the pain.

Thanks for the support and condolences guys, I appreciate it.

People form a special bond with their pets that is unlike any other relationship.
It's hard to think about him but I feel like I should be thinking about him

Idk i guess im being a baby about it. I just miss my best friend

My deepest sympathies. Pets are like extended children and it is so hard to say goodbye.

It'll probably be awhile before you can be with another dog, just focus on the good times and remember he isn't in pain any longer.

That's always sad to hear. I bet he was a good boy.

Time to get a new friend.... That's what I've always done. Give it a month or so to sink in if you need it, and go to the pound and save a life!

I have a lab I got when I moved out, she has been here with me while I was single, while I was married and after my wife leaves will be the only woman in my life again. I love my dogs as much as I love people and I can say without a doubt that I would kill another person before I would let them harm either of my dogs. They are family members in my house and always have been. I was just raised that way.

I know how much it hurts to loose someone close to you. People will tell you all day that it was just a dog but they don't understand the kind of bond that can be formed. I know my dog can always tell when I am sad without me having to show it. She has always been there for me and doesn't snore as loud as my wife so I am keeping her.
