From plants that are specifically bred.

You grow it, clone it, smoke it. If the smoke is fire you start a few more seeds. And try to choose the best male you can find. The better breeders will clone the males and allow them to flower so they can select the most resinous of the bunch.

Then you take the best male, and the female you've grown before, and breed them together.

Sometimes very few seeds exist so you just do what you can to generate a large F1 seed stock then work through the genetic potential on a large scale (500 plants) and selecting the ideal plants for future breeding projects.

Ironically, quite a bit of stability can be provided by the right male plant.
