How did I miss this thread?
1) From womb to tomb ... we are essentially alone.
2) Life is not as simple as we crave it to be.
3) (presented as a Haiku)
Life is just not fair.
I grow old: this once-loathed truth
now brings great solace.
Corollaries.
1) I have had nothing to steer me from the belief that our ability to face and accommodate 1) is a basic measure of our psychic health and capacity to be happy in our lives.
2) We desperately want to have Someone to tell us the Rules. Imo the thirst for religion, astrology, homeopathy etc. etc. stems from this great need to know that Somebody is minding the store. Nonetheless, I refer the interested reader to the consequences of 1).
3) Mercy trumps fairness every time. The Zeroth Commandment is be right, but the Zeroth Corollary is be kind.
These are my articles of faith, from my mind and my heart. cn
