Kessil's are fine and much better built than most of the unknown Chinese companies. They are American based with their own R&D inhouse. They are better than you are apparently aware.....plus they have been around longer than "most" of the LED lighting brands to begin with, so there is something to be said about longetivity.....

Why would you buy a light with old tech? Just curious, are you aware of other options out there? Especially the ones you didn't list?

Now that I have an Area 51 and Hans Panel I want another :)

I'd love to wait for the Area 51 10W Cree panels but I don't want too ;) Enjoying putting money back into this industry :D

I'm looking at the Area 51 XGS-190 and nearly confirmed the purchase but the page had expired... so now I'm continuing research and I've stumbled into the Bloom Onyx panel which houses 10W Cree chips. I have the space on my circuit for the additional wattage (250W compared to 190W A51) so I'm seeing mostly upside here, specifically the near identical price point. What am I missing?

That seems a bit extreme, but ok.
I never really paid much attention to Kessil until these 380s came out. They will serve a specific purpose for me.
They "only" need to produce 90 grams each to pass my test.

I have one and finished a grow with it and now I'm close to finishing a second grow but with the cover and lenses off this time around. It's made with quality parts and has produced some nice bud for me. It's a small unit for the wattage and runs a little warm because it's also driven at 70% but Mike at Onyx assured me that it will out last its warranty with ease and should go more than 5 years. In that length of time the new LEDs will be so much more efficient and cheap that you will probably want to replace it before then. They are testing a new version now with 10 watt XP-L's but I haven't heard anything about a release date. Might be worth a call to Mike and tell him I sent you.

It has little to do with money. It's that those are basically rebranded Chinese imports sold at a premium with fancy web pages and "secret sauce" spectrum. They don't tell you want diodes they use (so it's probably low-efficiency epi-whatever chips just like Chinese lights which can be purchased for 25% of the "secret sauce" lights). They don't tell you the spectrum/ratio.

Quality does cost money. I.e., Area-51, Rapid/Onyx, Hans, Apache. But, money doesn't equate to quality.

I'd recommend the RW-150, over the XGS-190, and I own an XGS. The RW will yield a little bit more, for 40 watts less, and give you denser buds. The XGS is hands down, the best veg light I've ever used, but I thought it was only okay when it came to flowering.

You must not remember the beginning of kessil and how many people found them to be below sub par. But thats none of my business now is it.

I"m on my second run with 4 XGS in a 5 x 5 and first run with 4 RW's in a 5 x 5. Won't have a comparison for a while but I have high hopes for 25 watts a sq/ft of RW in the 5 x 5.

I may do two RW-75 then as my goal is to improve light uniformity on the outside of my HPS dominant garden. I am really intrigued by the 10W chips though

Isn't that the anti-thesis of why unknown Chinese lights, MUST not be bad? At least stay consistent. Over and out. In person, I would say shut the fuck up. On here, "have a nice day".

ill post u some pics of my 180w led grow mate gota update to night but 3 weeks into flower they are looking awsome ;)

keeping in mind that I don't even have plants in the dirt yet (but a bit of experience and growing wealth of knowledge) I'm looking into LED lighting for both supplementing my flowering tent, and eventually when I'm able to add a veg tent, to just use the led to veg, the most I'd ever be vegging is 6 plants.

At the moment I've just got a 315 watt ceramic metal halide, through my research and observations, it should be good for both veg and flower, it ought to be comparable to a 600 hps, or so I'm told. I'd like to add led to improve further on the spectrum, so while pulling a fraction of 600 watts I can shatter my friend's grows! Only with the motivation of making us all better, of course.

the cmh doesn't generate much heat, though air cooling is impossible (sun system lec 315), though it takes up a lot of my 3x3 tent.
been looking at area 51s, largely because I know they're not these crappy leds I hear so much about, the price looks good, and they look to me like they could also hold their own as stand alone veg lights.
The one 3x3 tent I have now will be both veg and flower while I'm starting out, and once I move to a place with more space I'll make that my veg tent and be using a larger tent for flower with more lights or a bigger light.

the RW-150 would fit next to the lec 315 in the 3x3 tent, but would they generate too much heat together? would the RW-75 be better?

I'm also curious about buying other leds that may or may not veg 6 plants on their own, but that would give off a bit of high quality supplemental light. The kessils especially, and those ufo shaped ones, but most of the results I'm seeing for those are apollo, and I've heard they suck?

I haven't used CMH but from what I've seen 315 should rock a 3x3 without any help. I would check with Cococola36 because he's running 315's and 860's
