that's a great looking COB but you may want to add some 630 and 660 NM lights to get a little more red in your spectrum. that COB only produces 14% red light
K thanks heaps man.
:) this thermal glue.. I can't find any information on it?! How much do I apply. Also I bought these cheap chinese heat sinks that are about 2cm thick with tiny brushless fans... Should I go get myself decent heatsinks before I permanently glue these bad ass cobs on shithouse heatsinks or what..? Its all coming together. Waiting on drivers :D post some pictures soon..

Cheers

Wow, I just spent the last two days reading through this thread. Here's my newbie impression of the thread:

Write down a lot of manufacturer names
Cross out a lot of manufacturer names
Why are mommy and daddy fighting?
Numbers numbers numbers
The same question on each page (Found this LED on www.ebay.com/blahblahblah.....)
Cross out more names
Pull the trigger on Hans panels
More fighting
More numbers
Everybody decides that white is better than red
Shwagbag appears

So... my question is, according to the current school of thought on red and pink versus white, is the Hans panel still a good idea or should I try to cancel that order and do something else? My area is a tent 18" x 36" x 60" and I'd ordered two Hans panels, hoping to use them for all stages from seed to harvest.
2x Hans.
1x Bag of popcorn.
Bob's your uncle.

P.S. Mommy and Daddy still love you.

Try to use the thinnest amount and if they are multi chip arrays and not COBs use good heatsinks since they really really really need to be cool to work as well as they can.

I'm interested in supplementing my 1500 Watts Gavita DE HPS and 600W 4000K Metal Halide HID spectrum. I'm working with 11'X5'X8.5' dimensions, eight plants growing via water culture. The plants don't require significantly increased light energy, but improved spectrum... Ideally I want more UV...

I'm not using C02, I have 700 CFM intake and 1000 CFM exhaust, also 350 CFM interior circulation of risen heat.

I recently purchased two 6400K CFL bulbs to hang vertically while the plants stretch. Are there any options for vertical fixtures? I've in the past hung a LED fixture upside down, thus assisting the development of lower flower development... If I purchased a Hans Panel or A51 I'd like to hang them vertical along the perimeter, I can't interfere with the Gavita/MH reflector light throw.

I'm seeking diversity for my current, predominantly HPS spectral output... I need to keep the Gavitas ~2-3 ft from the canopy, so ideally I need 10W chips for intensity @ higher height I think? I will power the Gavitas to 600W likely during maturation of the flowers to ensure ideal surface temperature for terpene expression/development... So preferably a unit with varying outputs...

Budget initially set around $600...

Thank You!

True uv emitters cost big $$$...........predominantly ".blue" specd panel is a less effective alternative.

Don't know of any pre-built panel that fits all of your criteria^^^^^

http://www.bonsaihero.com/index.php/motherplant-led-panel heavy on the blue, easy to hang vertically, varying output modes,cree/osram diodes, 2 for $600 shipped.

Should cover a big area due to the wide lens angles and not being the primary light source

good luck grower

What is more efficient, red or white warm?
They are pretty close if you are using top quality cobs and reds. Based on how you drive each, white could be more efficient or red could be. White will hold up to temps better with it's efficiency though.
And currently whites cost less per watt to run to get that efficiency.
So I guess whites have the advantage.

As you specified UV....

These new Kessils contain some UV diodes and appear conveniently sized to be used as supplemental lighting. I'm not recommending them from experience or anything, but I remembered reading about them recently when I saw your post: http://growershouse.com/kessil-h380-spectral-halo-ii

Also, the California Lightworks Solar Flair line of LED panels includes models with UV tubes affixed. Again, not a personal rec', I've just been looking around trying to plan my 1st grow and noticed the addition of UV to these fixtures.

EDIT: Sorry for my redundant reply. I just saw your next post. I guess you're already good to go.

Thanks, Heavy.

That Kessil is intriguing due to the UV... But I'm hesitant to purchase Kessil...

I asked Hans if UV is possible, but no response... I'm really interested in additional UV via LED

So I just saw these on mouser.

CXA3070-0000-000N00AB30F

They're are 25 dollars a pop MORE expensive than the Z2's that they have on mouser as well. Are the AB's really that much better to justify almost double the cost?
My main game is efficiency to keep the wife happy about the bills..

"Sorry, there are no uv chips that have the correct footprint to fit on the boards." (Bonsai Hero)

Unfortunate... I'll ask A51 next... My initial idea was to purchase 150W MH bulbs and ballast but I cannot project anymore heat directly onto the buds as I'm trying to achieve 75F surface temperature of the flowers.

Opinion on this tech?

ps. Thanks for the timely response, PSUAGRO. :) I purchased a panel, so you should be receiving your commission soon... ;)
Looks very cool, my only worry would be that the actual light part looks like it emits light horizontally which means that all the light hitting the plants would be reflected which may have a negative impact on penetration, I believe that direct light is somewhat important, but I could be wrong. Actually hope that I am wrong, I'm always excited to see new tech pop up haha

That fixture is great for micro-greens.............not canna

If i was getting a commission I would have already retired on chroni's "penguin" island:wink:

Don't bother asking, They don't...............................REAL UV emitters are very expensive, cost more than entire pre-built panels for 1. Kessil's fixture won't do a damn thing either at that price....

If your dead set on UV for potency increase...........MH/t5/cfl are a better option atm

Why not go with better genetics from the start than trying to manipulate????

Thanks, Psua :)

I hear you, I have a lot of time to think about cannabis... So I'm finding ways to screw around in the room and have some fun. I've read quite a lot regarding UV and am certainly convinced of its benefits... I think lol

I'm actually running Chimeras' Grapefruit X Sweet Skunk Fem seeds at the moment, expecting good things

and az2000, I just wanted a convenient fixture all in one. Thanks for the response!

hey everybody, i need some advice on leds.

i am about to go on my first grow in a 80*80*180cm tent with a couple sativas (4-5). ive got some 10+ cfl and led screw-in bulbs(~150w), and realized for flowering i wont get enough light.

id like to supplement my grow with led. i was thinking another 100-200w. not very handy with electronics, so something plug and play would be my thing.

id appreciate some help, feel free to ask for further info if ive left out things you need to know.

cheers all!

I'm thinking of buying a 360 W LED from Growace.com for my first grow, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with their LEDs?

This the one I was planning on getting:
http://growace.com/grow-light/led-grow-lights/360-watt-advanced-spectrum-max-3w-chip-modular-led-grow-light-kit.html

Also, would this be enough light to grow 4 plants in a grow tent?

Btw, I just found this forum and I love it!
You could get the same sized LED light, with 5W diodes, from Vipar on Ebay, for less than $300. Read through these threads more before you buy anything, otherwise, you're going to end up hating yourself for overpaying, or for buying a hunk of junk.

I think you should try and read through at least the last couple of dozen pages of this thread as well as some other LED threads in here before deciding. I, like you, am in the process of choosing what I'll buy and am beginning to have a more informed opinion from reading these threads and checking out some of the amazing grow journals in this forum. Buy whatever light fixture you want of course, but do a little reading in here first (and in other herb forums too) and I guarantee your mind will change more than once before doing so. Happy hunting! :)
