Hey whats up everyone so im starting a new grow room and want to use cobs. I would love to buy them prebuilt as im not to good with electrical. The room will be 6' wide and16' long with a elbowed section of 6'x8'. Anyone able to recommend decent priced lights? I plan on doing this for 40 plants. Atm i have a 600w mh/hps and 2 300w leds that are chinese junk but did pretty good other than 1 bulb in the exact same spot on both burnt out lol

Sorry this is a perpetual grow so they would all be in flower in that room no vegging at all

So I've ran into a problem with my new led build I'm working with a closet for the set up 8 sq ft . but I had planned on no heat sink . well there more critical than I thought . is there any way of going around heat sinks maybe a big peice of sheet metal cut to fit wall to wall but still raisable as I planned with 6 cobs mounted on one side shinning down evenly spaced and on the other a strong plug in fan shoving air onto the back of the metal . could this do the trick helppp opinions welcome . working with cxa 3070 leds

hey guys. 1st post

i'm gathering info for mi very 1st grow. i want to grow 2 autos in a closet, 90cm x 50cm x 180cm (3 plants would be too much right?).

i'm aiming for 80-100g dry for my first grow and 150-200 when i gather some experience, as this is just for myself.

which gets me to the point of posting in this thread. HID is out of the question because of heat basicaly so LED it is. as i understand cree cxb 3590 COBs are the best LED lights today, so that pretty much leads me to tasty leds. or maybe my goals could be accomplished with 3070 or vero fixtures?
also building it myself sounds pretty fun, but i don't have the first clue about how to do that:mrgreen:
any advice?

thanks;-)

First of all, this website is a great resource for us all and thanks to all who share their time helping others. I have done many hours of reading this past few days and now I am ready to start putting a plan together, with your help of course ;)
I am planning a closet grow in a 2'x4' tent in which I would put 2 or 3 plants. So let me get straight to a question. In Canada where I am the Cree cobs are fairly costly and I can save quite a bit by using the Vero 29 cobs. If I intend to rock a canopy in that tent what cob configuration will I need? After looking at my examples it looks like the 4 cobs would be much better with 1 more cob directly in the center. I feel like my first purchase will be no more than 4 cobs. If I need to build 2 separate 4-Cob units for a total of 8 cobs in that tent I will, but I will build one first and then add the second down the road a bit. If I can get away with 5 cobs then I could probably twist my rubber arm and just get 5 cobs. I will very likely be using cpu heatsinks and fans to actively cool them since sourcing the extruded heatsinks people are getting at heatsinkusa is very difficult/expensive.

Also, digikey.ca has several versions of the Vero 29. The Decor Series Class A Vero 29, the Decor Series Specialty Vero 29 and the Vero 29 Array. These are all around the $35/piece mark compared to $50 to $95 for various Cree CXA/CXB 3070 or 3590. Also, will it matter if the cob I order is 2, 3 or 4 step? Also, since I will likely be buying from Digikey.ca does anyone know any heatsinks they sell that would be useable for me? Not sure if the product codes are identical to the USA site but if anyone has a product name I will look it up. Not sure which driver I will get since I don't know what configuration I'll be using yet but any suggestions are appreciated. Not finding any HLG's on digikey.ca atm. Appreciate any advice that comes my way.

Sorry, I tried to link directly to each cob I was referring to but for some reason it didn't work the way I planned.

:leaf:Welcome to RIU:weed:
1.start 3 plants then cull the weakiest plant.
2.3070 & vero will get job done.
3. DIY COB light =

Hey everyone!

I am thinking in change from hps to Led. I have been reading a bit and i came across a lot of different opinions. So i just look for more.

I have a 80cmx80cm (30"x30") tent and i want something that performs like a 400hps or better. I am in Portugal so that excludes some companies that don't ship europe. My budget is around 300€(330usd).

Seen so far:
holographic series 1 from crazy leds - to expensive and doubt they can perform like a 400w hps
Mars II 700 - it seem ok, have seen a couple of good grows with it

What are your oppinions and suggestions and why?
