No Stephen,
its a 2 part question.
Part 1: can cobs be run at max power? can drivers be run @ 100% power?
Part 2: how many cobs run at max power to make a 1000w actual power usage from wall?
Yes of course drivers can be run at max power. How much power a cob is at max depends on which one you are looking at. In this case I'd go with vero29 since there will be no benefit of running a cree cxb this hard. Hlg600h-42 x2 and 4 vero29 on each driver. So 8 vero29 total. Not very efficient but cheap per par watt. A if you want built in dimming b if you want external dimming

Yes, i have seen the spydr its bad ass but way too much $. Im getting the impression this is more a diy LED thread. Sorry i just jumped in.
No need to apologize its diy or commercial built. There are commercially available cree cob Lights for sale and less exspense than the bml spyder with similar output.

You have links? Im looking for something for a 4x4 tent flower&veg. I can use a 1000w hid but am looking to reduce heat and electricity cost.

I understand that a diy might be cheaper and more efficient. I just dont have the time or know-how.
Yea, I felt the same way. I decided to buy the best soil I cld find & the best LED, & once I get some more experience under my belt I plan on making both of them myself...
Crawl b4 we walk right?
I bought my spydr, gorilla 4x4, & carbon filters, fans, FF soil, etc all from Brite Ideas in Austin Tx which is also where BMR spydr is located. With the discounts that Troy gave me I only paid a little more than I was going to pay for the Kind LED & similar equipment from a dealer who specializes in Kind LED & imo the quality of everything I bought in the spydr pkg was way better than the Kind pkg. Their 4x4 tent for example was no where near the quality of my gorilla etc.... Good luck

Puffer, good question:
Dimmable yes on cxb-8 and maximizer. Cx4/6/9 have two switches that turn on half the light pretty much except cx9. Inside + and outside 4 corners on it. The cx4/6/9 are not dimmable.

Im looking at getting the kind 750w for a 4x4 tent. Its $1000
The K5 750 is really a 3x4 max. I used my 750 in a 2ft6 x 3ft6 area. Grew dank bud until this happened 11months in.I exchanged for a refurbished but it sets boxed up and probably will never use again.Vero29/CXB3590s now. Inever used the timers but did find the channels to be handy for different stages, but not worth the dough

Man, that sucks. Are other owners having this issue? There is no warranty or exchange? I know they say its a 4x4 footprint.
