anyone seen or gotten a hold of new lights from Blackstar? this new series is supposed to be much like the chrome series lights but with 8w leds between the grow spot clusters...

The Eshine 11 band and the Advanced 11 band are not the same. I own 2 Advanced DS200s (185 watts each) and 3 50x3 Eshines (85 watts each) and the difference in spectrums is obvious despite what Eshine claims. Both brands work great (rock hard 'n frosty), although not the most efficient when compared to the Hans.
$146.63 each for the Eshines delivered to the US and $505.00 each for the DS200s delivered.

That sounds reasonable, I don't think these people can resist the temptation to sell their lamps to end growers directly. I always wonder why they are dealing the business in this way:
When their resellers and distributors are investing thousands of dollars and loading hundreds of lamps in stocks, promoting the lamps on the market, these chinese suppliers are aggresively to solicit the end users to buy a lamp from their factories directly. Further more, they even tell you:'We are producing lamps for xxx, so our quality is good, and you can buy the same lamp from us and save half cost.'
Oh, damn, is this a good way to do business?

how much LED to replace a 600w HPS flower room that is 4x4 ft and still get an ounce per plant? room has diamond mylar around it and grows 16 girls in soil all indicas, also how much to replace 3x3 cfl veg room?

hey everyone, im looking to do a led grow in another room at my site. money no issue really, but i want to buy quality products that will produce . i have some led already, mostly ufos off ebay. and one blackstar that works great. but i know there is more improved leds out there.

For those who can't afford the >$800 for a quality light like A 51 in the US, or Astir Grows in EU, AND, especially if you are growing for personal use and have say ~ 2 x 4 or 4 x 4 grow area consider The Next Rage: White LED Tubes.
3 days ago, I bought 2 x 2 bulb 4ft shop lights ($30) + 4 iBright HO LED tubes ($140) to supplement my household LED globes in a vanity fixture. Within 48 hours, pistils started popping everywhere. An 8 bulb set up will be amazing. I'm waiting to hear back on how the led fixture is wired before ordering a 4 bulb

You want Cree, Philips or Oslon LEDs. Anyone who won't tell you what chips they are using is most likely trying to con you into buying an inferior product. The other lies that con artist manufacturers try to tell is to give the wattage of the panel in theoretical watts (the maximum that the LEDs are capable of producing) instead of telling you what the actual wattage is on the panel they are selling and they'll tell you that the coverage is much larger than it actually is. Take the physical size of the fixture and add 4 - 12 inches to the width and length of the fixture and you've got the approximate size of the area that the fixture will flower. Anyone that tries to tell you that some foot square fixture will grow flowers for over over a 9 ft2 area is lying. It will NOT. A foot square fixture will grow (flower not veg which is MUCH easier) at most about a 2 x 2 ft area no matter how many watts it is...unless you put it on a mover. A light mover is a wonderful thing and can leverage some high watt panels into providing good growth over a larger area.
Area51lighting tells you pretty straight up what they have and what it will do. So does Hans - bonsaihero.com - but his panels are most often used in smaller grows...but multiple panels is the way to go so you get even light coverage so Hans' is definitely possible.
Quality LEDs means that the power you are paying for is going into light (on spectrum) and not heat. Cheap LEDs produce far less light and therefore the rest of the energy is dissipated into heat...what most of us don't want.
