If an alien species had the technology to reach the speeds needed to travel the galaxy and if they had the desire to destroy us..
Then all they would have to do is chuck a reasonably large rock at us at close to speed of light, there would nothing we could do about it even if we did see it coming.

Why would aliens attack us? They would have to be vastly more intelligent than us to get here, or already be here under our noses. I'm sure they don't need resources because as far as I am concerned, if technology develops for much longer even on Earth, most resources will become completely obsolete. They wouldn't kill us for being so ignorant and selfish. I feel like maybe even right now they are trying to show us where to look but not showing us what to see, that is for ourselves to learn. I'm sure that if they were here that they would understand this concept.

I agree with Michio Kaku that an alien race advanced enough for interstellar travel would not bother with us for resources. But I do think it is possible that they may want to just wipe us out entirely because we could pose a threat thousands of years later after our science has advanced. Nip the problem in the bud, so to speak.
