If we are just souls in a biological body..

I don't think spirits reproduce. That is supposing that souls and spirits are one in the same. Anyway, I doubt that they would have much of a need for a sexual drive.

If we are talking about human spirits, then they could be driven by the memory of sex. If they are still hanging around here on some unfinished business...

But, if we are talking theologically. Then I suppose that there would be spirits of lust wafting around out there. Lurking in the shadows, waiting to ensnare up into temptation, sin and ultimately hell...

I guess it all depends on your angle.

Souls are just an extant of man's wishful thinking. The first word in your thread is the most important .... if.

It's a comforting thought, based on little to no evidence.

Being in fear of the "nothing" is what drives religious beliefs. It's an easy way to cop out of thinking about it.

I guarantee you that your death will end up a complete surprise.... Isn't that always the way to go?

I'm not afraid of death. I have accepted it. I want to one day embrace it as the 'next step'. Of course, I'm not going to go looking for it, but when the time comes I can't wait to see what's on the other side, but that just comes with the type of person I am.

I agree with earlier posts, its doubtful that the hypothetical soul would have any need for sex much less reproduction.

Cracker I'm not referring to religion. Religion is just brainwashing of people who hope to be shrouded in beauty because they believe in the make beleive. Last night I took magic mushrooms and I swear you are able to breakout of your physical body. I got closer to this event that I ever have before. The hardest part is forgetting everything you have learnt about our reality as all it does is lock you down like handcuffs to a pole.

I hear what you're saying, but it's a mistake to use the word "soul". There is still alot about the brain that we haven't figured out yet. While seeing is believing, it is much more probable that what ppl see in "out of body experiences" and "astral projection" and "ghosts" for that matter, is the subconscious projecting outward and being perceived by the conscious as something from another source other than themselves. It would be quite convincing and gives rise to where the notion of a "soul" began. No amount of third party convincing would deter your belief that you saw something. But exactly what you saw is the crux of the biscuit.

The prize is inside.

Genetic randomization creates personailty. Same with all living things. Don't tell me none of your plants have personality, they do. What is there for us after death? Nothing. Sure it'd be nice to believe that there is some greater purpose to it all but that just seems too easy. People have been telling eachother for thousands of years that when you die you go to a better place. Of course we're gonna say that to someone that's scared shitless because they're dying and it's human nature to comfort others. Anywho, I didn't take the time to read page two so I dunno what I missed, just thought I'd say my piece.

I won't go so far as to say there is nothing after life. I call it the "nothing" sometimes because it is the opposite of what ppl interject (heaven, etc.).

As far as I can tell, what happens to you after death is UNKNOWN. Could be something, could be nothing.

However, while anything is possible, not everything is probable.

I see it as a win/win. If there is nothing, there will not be any let down, not even time for a big AWWWWWwwwww shucks.....
If there is something, well whoop dee doo..... it'll be a big surprise. (this one is improbable I'm afraid  )

I think to throw away the idea of the soul purely because science has not proven it is completely stupid. Sure it probably isn't comprehensable to living beings what a soul actually is but I believe that really our biological body is just a 'spaceship' for a soul.
