If the U.S. gov't legalized weed....

Everyone here hates the U.S. government and Obama....

Let's pretend that the U.S. announced that tomorrow, cannabis would be considered legal to use, grow, and purchase.

Would you still hate your government?

Just wondering.
Thank you.

It really depends on HOW they legalize it. If it is as cut and dry as you posted it, I'd be cheering at the top of my lungs through the city streets all day, eyes as red as the sun. But with the government the devil ususally hides in the details, so there's no telling.

Legalization would mean 800,000 people get out of jail, free. That's the biggest and best thing. And no one will make any money off it, contrary to what some people believe.

hatred is probably too strong a word to use. most of us recognize government as a necessary evil, the most expedient way to minimize the effects of man's baser instincts and allow us to live in relatively safe societies. it is the the abuses and excesses of government, the expansion of control into areas that unnecessarily limit the liberties of the individual, that pervert the ideal of a benevolent watchdog into an authoritarian machine. this insane prohibition is only a symptom of the much larger disease, the systemic corruption of this nation's ethos.

our representative democracy has proved itself to be no proof against this corruption. the mob can be just as indifferent to the rights of the individual as any god emperor. our search for leaders is the culprit. our unwillingness to accept personal responsibility is the cause. our envious and indolent natures have brought us once again to the point in our history where we willingly accept the parental reproach of a totalitarian regime. whether that regime is controlled by a single king or the majority itself, it still wields power over the individual through the use of force and that is a concept that runs contrary to the precepts of freedom.

for the state to return one small piece of our natural rights to us is no great victory. the cause, the acceptance of force as the means to prosperity and security, still exists in the minds of the people. unless we can move beyond this warrior mentality, we are doomed to repeat the endless cycle that always leads from freedom to slavery and back again.

Yep, for a number of reasons. One being, look at how Obama is handling the oil in the ocean crisis in the Gulf.
My family and I go there every year. To Gulf Shores.. we have a beach house down there called 'Serenity Now'.

Well, needless to say we won't be going this year for sure. No point in going if we can't all enjoy it.. *oil*.

He's the gah damn President of the Richest Nations in the entire world!!! We can deploy Military for everything else.. why not deploy a certain number of soldiers down there to do the job.. and do it right. I don't think that any of them really understand fully, the devistation that this has already caused, and if nothings done quick like to clean it up.. its going to eventually soak into the soil over time.. and will stay there for hundreds of years.

Scientists pulled up recently some soil samples, around the Val Dez spill.. and there was still oil in the soil. So.. I dunno it just really pisses me off. Obama doesn't know what the fuck he's doing in the White House.. he needs to be removed from office.. impeached.

Get someone in Office that actually cares about American citizens.. and will keep his word. Obama and his ugly ass bucktooth wife, including there two little spoiled daughters.. need to hit the road. All they really care about.. is having the 'limelight'. They just like the attention..

well, that's my 2cents for the night.

peace everyone..

The illegalization of marijuana doesn't follow "their" rules in the first place. There are supposed to be 3 separate branches of government, the legislative, the executive and the judicial. The legislative is supposed to be the group that "makes law". So ask yourself why the DEA, (part of the Executive branch) schedules Cannabis as a "controlled drug" and refuses to move it off the Schedule I list?

To answer the question, yeah, I'll still hate the fuckers.

If the government legalized weed, a bunch of people on this board would be pissed because Marlboro would soon be taking their jobs away.

It is not obamas job to stop the spill. Nobody can just stop the spill. Obama is not superman. There is no one on this planet who could just stop the oil spill not obama and certainly not any conservative d-bag. What happened was that our regulators turned their eyes when bp wanted to drill without any clean up plan. That's where our government went wrong and if I'm not mistaken obama was not the one in charge when all that shit went down. If you don't like obama that's fine but to say he should just send some soldiers to fix it is retarded. If it was that easy he would do it you think he wants the oil to fuck up our country? Why don't you just go down there and fix it?

And you sound spoiled too you have a damn beach house. That's not being spoiled? There's no reason to bring the presidents children and wife into this. You conservatives are rediculous. I don't even care for obama that much to me he is a politician which equals hypocrite and liar. But to say obama should just strut down there and plug the leak just doesn't make any sense

Ha...just the direction I was expecting this thread to go. I agree with andar regarding ganjaluvr's comments re: the oil spill. I hear so many complaints regarding Obama's role in the oil spill...like in ganjaluvr's post......but where are the criticisms for BP? Aren't THEY the ones that caused this mess?

Again, that was why I created this post in the first place. Some of you guys and your anti-gov't comments are ridiculous. You hate the gov't for intruding too much into the lives of Americans in the way of laws and taxes, and then you grill them for not taking over and "fixing" this oil spill mess. Do you want gov't to play a larger role or not??? You can't have it both ways....

They don't know because it is money that is the problem. Its this dissonance that keeps the masses at bay, they can't figure out what is wrong and if they do they can't envision a world without money and property.

Peace

I will pretty much still not forgive them for years of jailing innocent people, murdering some, and ruining lives for many years. It's going to take some serious repairing of this relationship before we are square again.
