If Og Kush is Clone Only

The last time I read about OG's history there was a lot of work done by different growers I think. One guy would work on it and then some clones or seeds would make it to the next guy who whould work on it etc. I think it's more of an evolution kinda thing, there are new spins on it and there are still clones of the original. OG seems to be a pretty hybridized "strain" so there is a lot of phenotypes and that's why their are so many different cuts.
but see to say it is pretty "hybridized" and its an S1 doesnt really make sense. i thought selfed seeds were unstable by nature. anything ive bred og with turned out og dominant. i will even say the same about the reserva privada headband, it is very OG dominant in growth/taste even the color of the leaves and pistils. which would mean that it is kinda stable.

so they are not necessarily different phenotypes. they are justr tclimatized versions of og kush. so i could grow my og kush's outdoor and eventually call it og kush carolina cut.
Yup... How's the weather for growing outdoor over there?

Hmm, you may want to get a seed from the SVF cut if you can. That is the most sativa like, from what I've gathered.

I don't think that S1s are particularly unstable in theory, but the potential for bad things to happen because of inbreeding depression is much higher because bad genes will be more abundant. I don't have a lot of experience with OG Kush. I only grew one OG18 and it was very much like chemdawg in the finiished product. A hybrid could still be somewhat stable because some traits are dominant and even a hybrid could be worked into a stable breed, I just don' think it's happening, especially since more people work with clones than multiple generations of selections of seeds. Chem is a bagseed of unknow origin, a hybrid and an s1 is not enough breeding to really stabilize anything. S1ing a hybrid will always result in more hybrids just like backcrossing to a hybrid will.

The Tahoe strain came from Ocean Grown Kush, which is the original, but its been bred in Tahoe for many generations and now has it's own characteristics unique to Tahoe. Swerve, the famous tahoe grower at the time(1995-96), was given the cut from the creator of Ocean Grown Kush, Putz, who lived in Sunset Beach... hence Ocean Grown. It's a cross of Chem Dog, and Putz's own male, secret ingredient (elite cut from Lemon Thai X Old World Paki Kush). Putz, however, had created the first generation of this cross in 1993 and by '95 the strain had started to gain popularity.

In '96 Putz got married and move to New Zealand. He had been breeding the strain for a while and had some pretty stable seeds. He gave good amounts of these seeds to a few of his friends in the LA area. One of these friends sold a bunch of the seeds to growers in the San Fernando valley region and they started to grow and stabilize their own OG Kush that was slightly different than the original Ocean Grown Kush from Putz. They hence named it Original Gangster Kush.

I really did used to like OG Kush back in the day... but now it's whatever to me. So many people say they have it, when they don't. If you've smoked some OG you exactly what it is, and what the high is like. I just got bored of it. Hell, I smoked Lamb's breadth a year because of how fun that high was, but it got boring to me as well. I think it's stupid how much hype that it's getting now, but whatever... GDP used to be the shit (funny enough apparently that's clone only too), and now people don't like it anymore. I'm thinking the same thing will happen with OG eventually.

The story gets wilder and wilder every year... hilarious.

OG Kush is Chemdawg 91 crossed with itself ( by accident may I add) and therefore it was called an S1 cross.
And yes its a clone only.

Never heard that one before and the rumor has it that Ocean Grown Kush AKA OG Kush came from Chemdawg bag seed from a Grateful Dead show in the Lake Tahoe area around 1996
The Grateful Dead's last show was in July of '95 at Soldier Field.
