7 feet, no problem. With the lights and the distance from them between the plants, you will still have at least 3-4 ft to work, with the pot of course. 2-3 foot plants are going to be heavy yielders.thanks ccodiane, but do you think my height restrictions (7') could be an issue if I went w/ 3 gallons? I have no idea on the strain, so I don't want to risk them getting too tall... or should i even worry?

Yep. I would go 2000 watts for 40 plants, personally.1 400 watt light and some cfls isnt gonnabe enough for 400 plants. A 600 watt will barely cover that you ll need a 1000 watt light.The 400 might do 20 1 foot plants so that means you have to start clones and go right to flower when planted.

thats about the dimensions on mine and im only putting 13 6inch pots with 12inch plants and two 3 gallon pots with 2-1/2ft plants on each side of the closet and i feel im pushing it but when i get another 400w im definatly gonna try for about 30........rasreally ???? not even a closet wit dimesions of about 6 feet long and 2 feet wide and a height of about 6 feet?????? with the inside wraped with mylar like a x-mas gift?????..........
