1000 watt mph/ hps in soil grow,
i was thinking of veging 6 to 8 weeks, hybred strains, film!’d and lsd hard

was going to 1 gallon pots for may be 10 plants , then 9 plants in 3 gallon and finish with 9 in 5 gallon smart pots

does that sound right
or should I go 1 to 5 gallon smart pots

any advise is appreciated
thanks

Either route will be fine. Personally I find it easier to just skip the 3s and go from 1g directly to 5gs.

the few times I went 1-3-5s The second transplant happened fairly quick and kinda seemed pointless to me.

Perfect feedback , thanks, do you think 9 5 gallon Smart bags would work in the 5 by 5 - not too crowded?
with my plants it would be way too crowded. way way way too crowded.

I would run 6 plants in 3 gals. Really depends on the strain, and even moreso the veg time. Just seeing you're soil so maybe 5 gals is better than 3. Not sure

Only downside to big pots is the weight. That is gonna get pretty forest like when you are done! Planning on scrog or you doing freestyle?
Trellis goes up very soon. This grow is definitely going to be my best yet as long as nothing goes horribly horribly wrong. Ive done tons of stem bending to get them to bush out as much as they have but they need to spread out more. When they are dry the weight isnt to bad. I had to have a friend help me with them but thats because ive got multiple body parts in need of surgery but COVID has really been fucking with my medical attention. If I was in better physical shape, the pots would be no problem to deal with when dry. Most bags of dirt are 15 gallons and i add 1/3 perlite to my mix so its really no different than a normal bag of dirt. The big up-side to the giant pots is they will never need water more than every 3-4 days. Right now its once a week.

Heres a today picture. Probably flip to flower in 7-10 days. They have been going for 10 weeks. LOTS of training has really slowed them down but i should have an amazing canopy.

12 5 gallon pots in a 5x5. For 9 plants I would go with 7 or even 10 gallon pots. The bigger the pot, the more nutrients will be available to the plants and the less often you have to water.

That shit made me grin ear to ear when I saw it. Had a chance to buy a 5x5 few months back used for $150 really wish I'd done it now. Little extra space looks to go a long ways. Amazing how fast a 4x4 fills up.

You can get a new 5x5 for 180$

Honestly 12 was a pain in the dick.... no good way to get to the middle and back girls watering.

This is working much better for me.
