So I might have asked when I originally installed them but its been some time since my last grow and I'm firing these things up again and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with them (link)? The active heatsink paired with vero 29 is specifically what I'm referring to. The heatsink has a small core and then fins that radiate out and the core doesn't cover the entire baseplate of the cob. You can see parts of the chip exposed (parts where I have thermal paste) to the air between the fins from the top.
The datasheet (link) shows that it is compatible with vero 29 but it seems to me that not having the entire base plate touching flat metal isn't very efficient at dissipating heat. The heatsinks themselves are barely warm when the cobs are on full power which is approximately 70 watts per chip but there is still a large amount of heat radiated from the bottom. Maybe the fans are doing their job but I wanted some second opinions on if I should replace them. @CobKits I know you carry one of the smaller versions of this thing, what do you think?
