Ice Water at Late Flowering=Crazy Fall Colors

I too think I might try this systematically. I feel this might have done something to my plants as I have strains that don't typically purple turn purple, and it was around the time when it was really cold here and my water was sitting at ground level. I'm sure it was well below 60 degrees, I thought this might have been the case, but quickly dismissed it. Don't know why though now that I think about it, i guess its worth a try, aye?

Just to clarify, I didn't do anything out of the norm. That was all done by Mother Nature herself.
It's a sativa strain that I've been growing since the '70s. The same strain year after year.
The cold temp alone didn't cause the color change, it only gets like that in the years that we get the ice cold rains during November.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not recommending that anybody water their plants with ice water.
The growth was slowed to almost nothing after the rain and this time about 30% had to be harvested before maturity. But that's common w/sativas 'cause they take so friggin long to mature.
Also, it affects the potency. Although the plants look 'pretty', the potency is somewhat diminished.

I had my room looking like fall with ice water now I put ice chunks on my top pf my dirt and let it melt the last week noticed lots of extra color in the end more so than with out the ice

Its one of those case of nature versus nurture. God help you when they both merge. The rednesss seems to come out more on sativas as they flush turning pinkish. I only used cold water like 40ish and thats what I used. I was going to use some ice water but that seems too cold and will shock. Of this crop about four of ten turned purple, ultimate is pure sativa and black, grapegod had great purpleish leaves, ymboldt turned blue. every bud blue, lsd tops changed pink, casey jones thai phenyo is pure purple everything.

I am not full off it madam. I got crown royal purple, barney purple, prince purple. Bag appeal goes thru the roof at the club. I am not making this up just try it after molting, leaves turning brown. This is when the chlorophill is leaving and messing with the phosphorus can bring out the individuality of each strain. But it won't work on all about one of five strains will turn purple. Those with afgani dom phenyos tend to be the darkest and is the basis for lots of great outdoor purple strains.
