I Would Like to Get Big Buds But How....

I am a disabled vet from the USMC and grow my own meds. Right now I am growing one Northern lights/Alaskan thunder fuck cross, It was started from seed and will be 3 mths old on the 10th of June. I have grown one other season but out of 6 plants I got about 3/4 of a once. So I built a bigger room with more airflow. I went from a 3' tall x 3.75' wide x 2.5' deep box to a 8.25' tall x 6.75' long x 4.25' deep room. I am using Floresant lighting for vegitation and Have a 400w Hps for flowering. The plant "Bella" is in a 15 gallon pot and is about 30" tall right now. I would like to get one more month before flowering though. Pics are here please Im looking for the right advice....

Damn did you have probs with you previous batch????Thats pretty low yield for 6 plants..., What soil,soil mix you using???Nutrients??Temps???

Yeah something like that but there are many other variables that affect overall yield.

thats an extremely low yeild...

but based on the new dimensions u listed u need more light at least a 600 if not a 1000 watter should definately boast yield some plants have high resin but low yield also prob gentics maybe nutrients

sorry I could not up load pic file was to big. Here are two pics one is in a box which was the first round, I was not using any nutes because well did not have... The single plant is the new crop with the new room, the nutes I am using is Pure Blend PRO GRO made by Botanicare plant energy products, with a NPK of 3-1.5-4 It is working well for vegitation as far as I can tell, This plant looks healthyer then the others. But some one told me about "Big Buds" fertalizer for Flowering, is that the right name or what should I use.
OOOhHH yea my PH is a pretty constant 6.9-7.0

for soil i was using a Home Depot brand crap and was told not to use that I am now usind fox farm and happy frog.

More light, good routine, feeding routine, light routine, good nuits, good temp, i water after feeding, feed, water, feed water etc etc, Air flow, Air flow, Air flow, and a good strain seed, youl then be fine.
2 sets of seeds to consider for next grow.

You can't expect big buds if you don't feed your plants lots of light and the right food. You're lucky you cropped out at all.
1kw in a small space maybe not but a 600 and cooltube if you can afford it.

Use the flouro's only for cloning and tiny seedlings, one they are established babies they can go right to the hps to veg and then you'll get more growth a lot faster. Yes you can veg with hps, oh boy can you veg with them allright.

I'm fairly new, but so far it seems to me good genes and good health are the main factors. You can try all the nutes in the world, but there's only so much that will do. Same with lights. A 150W light at 4 inches away is not much different than a 400W light at 24 inches.

I have 4 plants growing right now-- 2 Chem D's and 2 Ortegas. The ortegas are in a SCROG, so they are basically the same height distance from the light. Here's the difference... Health. One of my chem d's broke in half mid-stem, and that plant has smaller buds and less trichs than my normal chem d. With my ortegas, I have one plant that has been sick. I don't knwo what it is until I tear out the roots after harvest. But when I compare the ortega flowers, the healthy plant has buds twice the size. One area of the scrog had 2 buds growing at the same size... when the one plant got sick the bud stopped growing as fast as the other. The healthy bud is really, really thick and big in comparison. And in both cases, the sick plants have remarkanly less trichs.

So in my opinion, health is #1. Then the DNA of the plant, then light, then nutes. This is based on my limited practical experience, but convincing none the less.

You should be able to get 4 oz off a 400w light, but your plants look skinny. In flowering the plant takes chlorophyll from the leaves, so it's good to have lots of lush growth before switching to flowering.

The best advice I can give you is to switch out your reflective material. Mirrors and tin foil are not great. Get some Home depot (Bear) flat latex "brilliant white" (it's 90% reflective and probably on sale) and paint the area including your floro-hood.

Floros loose lumen's over time, so if they're over a year old switch them out. Same goes for HPS bulbs.

You have good plant genetics and that's half the battle, so you're good there.

You'll get a better harvest after switching soils, but it's a good idea to add some pearlite (20%) to your soil mix. Cannabis like loamy (loose) soil

Also put 2" of pearlite - or other suitable drainage material - in the bottom your pots, and make sure they are breathing from the bottoms. Drill extra holes if necessary. i think the biggest mistake beginners make is placing the plant container on a piece of plastic which can cut off oxygen to the bottom of the container.

Ventilation and air flow is also important, so they get lots of Co2. Make sure - if you leave your water out to dechlorinate - that the water isn't stale (starved of oxygen). I keep a little air bubblier in my water bucket.

Other than that I can't think of anything else that may be keeping you from harvesting more bud. GL

lose the florecent light and just use the HPS, set the timer at least 18hrs. of light

well i would first have to say yield starts off with the strain some strins yield better then others i would have to say that the strain make's up about 65% of the issue the rest is environment nutes and things like that.i have grow thunderfuck before but not nother lights and my thunder fuck yeilded about 2 onces per plant but i belive from what ive read is that nother lights is not a big yielder i am now using a haze strin and im getting four onces per plant and i havent changed the way i grow. you can try uping ur light to that does work as well but i would probly try experimenting with another strain thats why i chose to switch strians. Oh and belive me when i tell u DO NOT get some bag seeds or get some from some one buy them your self becuse it will only make problems for u you will end up with males or something plus its not a good idea to introduce something into your habitat that you dont know were it came from plus if you buy them from a seed bank you know what ur geting and what it should yield. good luck happy growing

oh and another thing try topping ur plant its not about how big u can grow it i grow plants that are 2 feet and get 4 o's from it i have grown them 6 feet and only get 2 o's becuse what happins is the light will only penatrate 1 foot into the plant so if u grow a 6 footer the first 2 feet is the only part that will bud the rest is just a waste of nutes and time

I use floros in veg & MGMC for soil and have great success, all bought @ home depot.

It looks like those babies are streached, how far above those girls are you keeping your lights?
