I Want Your Advice

I currently live in an east coast, non-medical marijuana friendly state. Ever since i was 16 i've used marijuana to treat anxiety and sleep disorders. Its greatly improved my life leading me to get a better job have a great boyfriend and just live life happily day by day. However, living in this state I struggle to find marijuana--good marijuana--to where i'm searching on a day to day basis spending a LOT of money.

Throughout this process its made me realize how much it SUCKS for one, and how important marijuana is to me as a medicine and a natural herb. I've decided that I want to be in the cannabis business. This decision has changed a lot of my future plans, like college. Whats the best way to get an education for the cannabis business? Oaksterdam has been highly acclaimed and can clearly open doors for you. However, thats a far way for me and i've heard bad things about the neighborhood (brother lived in L.A. told me he wouldn't let me stay in Oakland for a night). I'm willing to self-educate because i've done so much of it already, but where does that get me?

I know that I need to get out of this state, that seems obvious to me. Im thinking Colorado, or California. I want your opinions all my smoker friends, should I move out there with some money at hand and make it work? Should I educate myself with the gods in Oaksterdam and then create my way from there? Should I find a job in the business first? I have so many questions, but I just wanted to see what you guys out here have done or would recommend. In the end, I want to be growing my own marijuana for myself medicinally, and running a coffee shop/bakery of sorts. Typical broken record I know, but i'm well educated and ambitious. I'm willing to put myself out there and learn what I need to to become a part of this growing community I want to call home. Peace Love and Mary Jane :leaf:

Sounds like you have watched to much Weeds on TV. In all honesty if you find people growing weed they are either well educated individuals or scum. The scum usually grow tons of crap while the well educated folks grow much less but much better bud. If you want to learn to grow properly start by reading up as much as you can about it, then once you think you understand every piece of the process put it into practice. You will soon find that growing in theory is nothing like doing it for real but its still a good start. Then find yourself a proper grower and beg them to mentor you, an apprenticeship is the best way to learn this trade.
If you are completely against fiscally attending a collage try doing distance learning and get a day job. Don't think that you will be able to support yourself from day one by just doing the weed thing. It takes at least a year or two to be in a position where you will be able to grow any seed into a beautiful bud.

This is what I think, but in the end it is up to you, yourself and you. So go with your gut and remember that if your not enjoying every second of your life then you are not living.

Haha just the first couple of season :P it turned into a slut fest after that. Thank you! I'd love to find a grower of quality marijuana that would be my mentor that a great idea.

IM some what in the same place you are, friend. I figured that I should do what makes me happy and if bud helps you sleep better, then I wouldn't think it be something you'd regret. but I agree with notsogreenthumb, there is no need to rush in to it, just read and practice makes perfect.
LOL I hated "weeds" from day one

Where legal The market is to tough to make a living legally. If you make money illegally then you risk throwing your life away. Otherwise give up the dream of growing and selling legal. There are 1000's out there that have grown 20 plus years that would jump on an easy opportunity if it was possible.
Keep doing what your doing. Educate, dream ambitiously, find your path in life. As far as your bud. Look at it as a Hobey for yourself. Thats it. In your spare time read/study and absorb all you can about your hobby. After a while you will never have a need to purchase smoke, You'll have WAY better product and will continue on with your life. Once you get your Hobby down to a science troubles are over. PS look into Cannabis tincture for anxiety, When you get good at it you will have left over to try. Tips. don't make money growing it. (save money and trouble not buying it), grow only what <you> need and Tell No one about it. Last but not least, Star out cheep. Fluorescent lights, Cheep soil, bag seed, and your biggest expense a good fan and filter. Even one plant (when grown right :-) will stink good. Good luck don't loose track of your dreams!!

I would suggest michigan as well, just make sure to buy a house or whatever in a safe neighborhood if you head near Detroit (there's a ton of great places you just have to be cautious). Oaksterdam has started up there as well.

I think Bucks got it right. You don't need to change your whole life to get what you want. Always continue educating yourself. Have you tried growing your own?

I would love to, but I live in the kind of area where my seeds would get taken by the government before they even got to my house :( Thats my problem, where I am now I have no way of moving forward with learning to grow marijuana which I find growing it on my own and experimenting the ONLY way to learn that sort of trade, and Im sure everyone here would agree to that. I feel like the only way I can move forward is to live somewhere else, get my medical marijuana license, and then start growing my own. I just don't feel at home in the cold east coast :(

You don't need to move states to grow herb; get you a quarter of some schwag and do a stealth grow on bagseed. That's what I did (well not so much stealth but started w/crap weed seeds), and given the proper care and attention, they flourished into beautiful buds. Trust me, taking coal and turning it into diamonds is one of the most satisfying feelings I've ever had!

I mean even if you go to a med state, you're still gonna pay out the ass for good weed. It's cheaper to grow, less risky ina MMJ state sure, but really just gotta ask yourself if the benefit outweighs the cost/risk. And from what your first post says, that's something that isn't too hard to answer (yeah, we seem to be on the same wavelength LOL)

Seriously though, do a tote box, hempy bucket grow....stealth, very cheap, can be turned into a perpetual garden, and you can get some really amazing bud. Costs much less than moving lol
