get an electrical cord (with standard wall plug-in on the end) rated for atleast the volt/amp/watt rating of the lamp plus some. get an appropriate base socket (same as cfl bulb) take old base and cord off reflector and install the new one for cfl.

if it uses the same base as the hps then just switch the cord.

I don't see why you are thinking of going from High Intensity Discharge lighting to compact florescent. You can buy a 250W HPS or CMH bulb for less than a 250W CFL. And the cfl is no match in performance compared to a HID.
Go buy a 250W Ceramic Metal Halide bulb, less heat than the cfl and a much better light spectrum and is great for veg & flower. http://advancedtechlighting.com/cdmed18.htm
Buy a bulb for 50 bucks and they will send you a 250W HPS for free.

I've used a 250, 105, & 85 watt cfl's before, for supplemental light for a 350w LED and i'll never use any cfl larger than 85 again. (four 85's are better than a single 250)

the hps i have is 600 watts and I have no ventilation. Considering I have 3 foot by 3 foot of space it probably wouldn't be that good with ventilation anyway. And 250 isn't cheaper because I'd need a 250 ballast and big fan. I have small cfls but they won't do a good job
