The OP called into question the validity of the cited study, he himself doubted it. So did we, but apparently we didn't do it in a manner satisfactory to him; whence he became a bit defensive and more combatitive. Ex. I tend to be sceptical of any public health document that tries to infer behavior is a disease and is partially funded by a gov't agency (Nat Inst of Drug Abuse) which has an agenda to control public behavior
I agree with you. I agree with questioning the validity of all scientific studies. That's the whole point of them, to be questioned and contested by other scientists. To be proven valid and factual. Im not contesting your right to argue and I'm not saying you were wrong.

But, at some point things stopped being about scholarly articles and ventured into the realm of cruel. An old post was brought up, the OP discussed his hardships and how he was personally doing and was continually mocked. This thread was bumped, to keep mocking.

i assumed that someone would have to take joy in the misfortune of others to do that. That is my opinion, and I appear to be alone in thinking this.

You seem very comfortable just showing up and rendering a judgement without bothering to read any of the pesky facts. YOU ROCK!
He came here ASKING for us to gut it. We did!! Then he lost his shit because we used methodology and no story telling sheesh.

Oops we then attempted to politely explain and that's when he threw the first ad hominem after that it was a free for all.

I'm an old man and grew up in an era where folks were expected to have thicker skins. I happen to agree with that, and I have had life experiences where I've seen and participated (sometimes gladly) in the darker side of human behavior. Written verbal jabs on the internet just don't rank high on my scale of things that are bad to do

The first answer: you don't think it's bad. Fair enough. That's your opinion and clearly the common one. Thank you for verbalizing your thoughts rather than just calling me a hippy. Which I likely am.

Just like your comment right here, you introduce "facts" after the fact and imply C2G had prior knowledge of your emotional youthful sensitivity and pain; thereby being sadistic and hurting you moreso. Grow up
So wait, if the facts were known that would be sadistic to make fun with Internet words? These two statements together contradict each other.

I agree, the lessons you keep are the ones that cost you the most. Anyone who made it through grad school back in the day was used to having their advisors rip them a new one on the regular in public. You finally grew immune and that is how you learned to separate yourself from your argument.

Apparently you as well don't know how to manage data, shall I explain?

oh please do. This is the managing of interpretation and opinion, not necessarily data. No matter how the sentence was interpreted by me, your intention is all that matters.

But I'm always game for a lesson, managing data lesson 1.

No the facts are all that matter. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I was interpreting a quote by singlemalt with my own bias. I could argue what I beleive his intention to be, and then he could argue what it was. But his intention is what matters.

Intetpreter bias confirms preconceived notions and makes everyone dumber. I think Jesus said that.

The 1st was how I think. The second was how the OP attempted to manipulate other readers opinions by a construct using specific cues(prior knowledge, sadism, etc) that will engender sympathy. Personally the OP is rapidly entering that dark place that I used to like going to.
