Have you typed in chunky? I got that damn Shop by that name. I fund It once, The last two pics. Those were cheap copies.
As for the artist, you can see a clear difference in the 4 pieces. Color rods with glitter? those effin cost extra. But the details in
the colors mix just like a tidal wave crashing on Cali beaches.

I summon Fdd2blk. Help. *poof*

all pipes these days are made with borosilicate. there is no such thing as "cheaper glass". unless it's simply the glass that comes from china and the quality is still there, it's just cheaper to buy. most of the colors are US made, and i try to only use US made clear as well. India pumps out a lot of "cheap glass". it the labor costs that allow them to sell pipes for 2 dollars. the have factories of children busting them out by the thousands. all that flashy inside - out stuff is usually imported.

it's the "annealing" that gives the pipe it's strength. it has to be run thru a kiln after being worked. when you heat and move glass around it becomes scrambled, the molecules become misaligned. by running it thru an annealing cycle the molecules are given a chance to "relax" and realign. this takes "ramping and soaking" at various temperatures for several hours. my standard cycle runs about 6 hours. going up as high as 1125 degrees.

you ever have one of those pipes that you tap with a lighter and it explodes? this pipe was not annealed. it was under stress and just waiting to give.

ever have one that bounced down two flights of concrete steps? this one was properly annealed. ;)

welds can be the same way. when two pieces are joined, if they aren't fully melted together there are stress points created. these stress points are what give out first.

quality glass will have smooth even walled welds. bubbles are fine. i often add them simply for "effect".

colors run anywhere from 20 - 80+ a pound. clear is a couple dollars a pound. the material costs of most glass is pennies on the dollar. you are paying for function and form. and often a signature. signatures do represent quality though. ;)

i can't do custom work at this time. sorry. :(

no but that scares the fucking shit out of me!

had a pyrex pan blow up on me but it wasn't near my face thank god

I have a phobia of exploding glass now  everytime I pull a pan out of the oven I cringe... now every time I put a cheap looking pipe up to my face I bet the same thing will happen hahaha

If you don't mind me asking (might have already) why are you so fixated on this certain piece?

If you want a thick ass bong look at US tubes... they make 9mm thick glass all the way to the glass on glass joint... might be outta your price range though... youd have to try hard to brake this thing.. it's what I want for a straight tube if I ever get one

I dont like it, nice though, I needs the base and the big clear globs. The base on this thing is a Ball.
The base in the blue thing up there is more like an ashtray, Not going to fall over and break your glass table.
I like it because of the rods used, well temped, great hits in that cone shaped bowl.
diffuser installd with precooler when i feel the need for all the bells and wistles.
Also it fit our hands well too, when passing its hard to drop.
and you could club someone with it.

Im Still looking for people who will make mine to spec. Those are nice BUT 300 dollars.
it will easily cost you as much to get someone to blow you the one you want. custom work doesn't come cheap. you have to take the cost of the actually piece and then ADD the custom job price to it.

i picked up a nice diffused, percolated with a splash guard tube for $200. it's been kicked over more times then any other bong i've ever owned. i highly recommend medical.
