I need some help!

The AC I bought is not an AC, it is an evaporative cooler... Water cooled. Running it is driving my humidity levels up to almost 75%. So, I am not getting out of it what I hoped.... However I did buy a new little toy to go with it. A hygrometer...? Is that the right work for a RH meter? : ). It also has a probe on a long wire, which I have going inside my cabinet, so I can now get RH and temp without opening it. The bad part is, I now know that my temps are running at 96 degrees right where the tops of my buds are growing. So I have had to start leaving the doors open when the lights are on to keep the temps down. I was afraid I had overbuilt this cabinet... Now I know for certain that I did. This is going to be the only grow I can ever do inside it.

which is kind of okay... I am just going to turn the whole closet into my grow room when this little girl is done. I am putting CO2 on her tonight. My new regulator just came in and I got a 10 lbs bottle of CO2, so I am reading up on that now.

So... Having said all of that... How should i set up my CO2? I can still keep the cabinet doors closed when the lights are off. With the doors closed, I was planning on a burst of CO2 every 15 minutes and the calculator (from the CO2 Sticky on RIU) tells me I need to set the volume on 1. But what about when the lights are on and the door is open? Should I bother running it at all?

She still looks good thou...

thoughts?

I don't run CO2, but from what I understand you want a fairly sealed room, otherwise it's just being wasted as it escapes the grow area.

So yea, I wouldn't bother with the CO2 when your lights are on and doors are open.

CO2 is only beneficial with lights on and room sealed. Perhaps a ducted reflector would be a bigger help in your situation.

Adding co2 during the lights off period won't do you any good. Cannabis uses co2 during the daylight hours, but extremely little at night. 95F and 75% Rh is too high. If your cabinet is that small, you should be able to vent it easily with even a small fan. Is the room it's in air conditioned?

I see in the pic what appears to be a MH? An air cooled hood ducted outside will solve your overheating problem.

Excellent advice! But to be perfectly honest, I have a reached a point in my learning that I have realized... For me at least, that trying to use a cabinet is a waste. I can only grow one plant at a time and the closet I am using is a perfect grow room and the cabinet is a just taking up space and trapping heat. I have more than enough lights to transform this closet when this little girl is done.

The closet is L shaped. It is 10' deep and 4' wide for the first 7' and then 6' wide at the back. There is an air conditioning vent in the closet... A single tent wall about 5' in and and I have a perfectly controllable space with AC. But that will be a couple of months away... After harvest.

I do like the idea of the air cooled hood! Yes, that is a 400 watt MH... I have a 1,000 watt light too, but it is just siting in my dresser not getting used because of my heat issues. I have seen a lot of growers on here using the cooled hoods, but it did not think of getting one until you suggested it. Those thing look like they are pretty big and I don't think there is room in the cabinet for them.

I could go go calc the column of CO2 I need to flood the entire closet with the right amount of CO2... The room is "sealed" but with the door closed and the volume calculated correctly, it should still help right? Or am I just reaching?

Sir, it is my honest opinion that you are not ready for CO2. CO2 will cause any lack of skill to become painfully pronounced and your plants will suffer.

If there is a A/C vent in there, it's not sealed. You could tape over the vent, but then you'll have heat problems. co2 enhancement requires serious modification to make it work well without using a ton of co2. You need to have a separate cooling circuit for your lights or massive A/C. An inside closet doesn't have windows to use for venting your lights so you need to drill two large holes in the floor, wall, or ceiling. co2 enhancement is the last thing I would add, getting all your other parameters dialed in first.

Unless you can provide a consistent and constant supply of co2 its not worth it. Consistency is key. I go days without entering my flower room.

As the last few poster's have said in order to get the full benefit of CO2 there is a lot of thought required, been there done that lol. I get the stuff for a really good price, free lol! And do not use it due to the fact that yes I would need mechanical cooling of some sort to enable venting to be shut off. temps just got way out of control. Also with out a proper controller I was just shooting in the dark as far as levels went. Getting rid of the cabinet is a great start, the closet would be much better IMO. As for not entering my flower room for days I couldnt do it lol. I need to see the girls every day lol. I'm still a newb so waiting for the plants to fall over dead at the drop of a hat lol.

Those days are long gone for me, after you see what these plants can take and still live it relieves that stress. Plus having the wireless IP camera in there and able to view anytime on my phone helps.

Lololololol. Busted! You are sooooo correct! The more I learn, the more I realize how much of an idiot I really am!
Don't give up yet! You have the equipment, you may as well use it. Using co2 you can run your temps in the 90F's so there will be no need to open the door. Co2 should start as soon as the lights go one. You might want to keep in mind that the plants have been producing co2 while the lights were out. Now that the lights are on the plant will start using co2 and producing o2. The co2 is heavier than the o2 so you'll need a fan circulating lower air with upper air so your plant can get at the co2 more efficiently, especally in closet or larger op's. Stop giving them co2 a couple hours before the lights go out as they will be using o2 and expelling co2 shortly after the light goes out.

I'm starting to get very comfortable with the grow now! I'm past the point actually of wondering if they'll be dead in the morning lol. When i shut it down last spring I left a few of the smaller buds going in one tray and they lasted weeks without the pump running, a huge root mass stayed damp and they just kept going lol.
And as far as CO2 use, all Im saying is there is a bit more than just turning on the tank to get benefit out of it in my opinion. If paying for it by the cylinder it can get quite expensive! Again heat was my big issue with lights on and ventilation shut down it was getting really hot lol, res temps were getting out of hand as well. Should have that issue solved with chilled water system next year!

You know, I been smokin' weed for a long....... Long time. But getting to watch this little girl grow and develop has been really cool. I have been tearing up buds my whole life without ever seeing how they grew... Overlapped... Layered over each other. I cannot wait until I finally get to euthanize her sometime in February when the cure is done. I know she is going to be good, trust me, she has been one touch little bitch! I would have sworn some of my mistakes would have killed her lol

just rambling

Been there done that lol. I used to grow for profit outdoors but now its just a really cool hobby that gives back. Also use it for pain relief and sleeping 😄. Hopefully soon we'll be able to do it in Canada with out fear of jail 😳.
