Well i had a pc grow box like 2 years ago. But i moved.
ant ways. I cant seem to find a decently priced pc tower that is affordable and that is tall. Id prefer 24 inch tall by like 12 inches wide. Idk if 12 inches wide is possible, but ive seen 24 inches. Does nebody got decent links? i just cant find any
Things im looking for :
**Locking side door
** 24X12"
*Side opening door
thx guys!

EDIT: Also is it possible to use a HID light in a pc grow box? Idk if it would screw in the same like a cfl? Does it get hotter? is it unsafe?

Sounds like you should start looking for used instead of new. HP NetServers, old scsi bays and larger pieces of antiquated PC gear. I used to buy old 'junk' computers from local businesses, corps, etc... who were upgrading. Check administrative buildings and office complexes. You'd be surprised what they'll sell for a few dollars to keep the junk cleared. Server cases from the 90's work great.

for the size and scope of your grow leds make a lot of sense. Check the journal in my signature, I'm a small home hobby grower. A light from a reputable brand is expensive however for your situation may be right. They give out way less heat than 1 100w cfl.

You may want to consider ditching the pc case. Its really hard to do it right with one of those. Making a stealth cab out of an old wardrobe is easy and would probably serve you better.

its funny u say that. Ive seriously been considering a cabinet. Im not trying to make any money of this. I just have a serious problem with loving watching them grow lol. And slightly obsessed with the idea. Im sure that sounds sad. I think im gnna do the cabinet thing!!! I wish i had tools lol

EDIT: Arent LED lights for ur car?? Is ebay a decent site to get them from? Any suggestions on sites? And i see u didnt like the "PG" LED light and u liek the UFO. whats that mean?

there are a lot of shit leds on the market - ebay is where you can find most of them. I use the pro grow series from hydroponics hut. You could also buy good led grow lights from GLH, Stealth, Pro Source, Advanced, or Blackstar.

It really depends on which type you buy, their are some LED's that go right into a regualar lamp socket.

Just start browsing for some of the name brand products that hoss12781 has recommended

they can but those are not the kind you'll want to use. They suck. Leds are powered by the individual wattage of the diodes. All the brands I listed below employ 3w chipsets meaning the individual didoes are driven to produce around 2.1w of actual output - this is what ensures their longevity. A screw in led bulb probably uses somewhere around (for easy math's sake) 8w and probably has 80 diodes meaning each diode produces somewhere around .1w per diode. This is how you can judge a led light's efficacy - number of dioes divided by total power consumption and taking step down transformer use into consideration. A good led light will run you around $300. Don't just run out and buy one without doing research there is literally a ton of shit led lights on the market.

nice for the price - you bet man. You're welcome.

Although I've never used a pc cab I'm pretty sure that would be safe. They do produce a decent amount of heat so you'll have to vent, but nowhere near the heat of a HID bulb. They aren't large enough to make your bill increase dramatically, they only run at 105w. I used to run one per plant on my original set up back in the day.
