Hey guys, I really just have some questions that i can't seem to get answered without asking around, so hopefully they will get answered now.

What are the best Nutrients to use? (Please name it specifically)

Around how many lights should i use? What kind? Where is a common place they are available?

What kind of potting soil is the best? What should i look for to be in the soil?

I might be coming with more questions later. Please, if you know the answer to these please reply.

Thanks.

Depend on what setup you wanna go. HPS,CFL, long tube,MH ?

What kind of potting soil is the best? What should i look for to be in the soil?

Alot of member on RIU suggest foxfarm. im currently running miracle gro with no problem. for a newbie i suggest going foxfarm just so you can get along with most of the member here so there would be nuthin wrong with your soil.

Thanks.
you welcome

with fox farms you going to have nute lock out just like every newbie who uses it has..
your gonna wanna buy 30 3 gallon pots
2 bags of pro-mix... promix is a soilless mix. there is no nutes in it and its ph balanced so its harder to mess up..
Plant in promix and give them 1-2-3 3-2-1 Try General Hyrdroponics. 1-2-3 is tablespoons per gal. so in veg you would do 3-2-1 3 tbsp of grow-two of micro-1 of bloom....and for flowering you would do 1 grow-2micro-3bloom... buy a tub for water.. lets say its 20gallons.. you would put 20tbsp grow-40tbsp micro-- 60tbsp bloom. for flowering... then you would add stuff like diamond nectar. about two ounces of that in 20 gallons.
For your light you would want to buy one 1000watts.. hps or mh doesnt make a differnt two much. get a bat wing shade.
get some black and white to keep the light in and reflect it.. You should do 30 plants under 1 1000w bulb and veg them for a week if clones for seeds about a month and then put them in light cycles of 12/12
Next your going to need some ventilation.. i would recomend a 6 inch vortex inline fan.. try to get that over the lights or high in the room to exaust the heat and moister of out the room. get a light timer
and a temp gauge.. keep your room clean. and seperated from everything.. dont show anyone or tell anyone.. you should get a pound off of that being its your first grow. it will only increase with skill. good luck. if you have anymore questions dont be scared to ask

Nutrient Lock my ass.

It sounds like you guys are feeding way too much nutrients. FFOF contains organic nutes to feed plants for the first 3 weeks then after you have to add your own mix of nutes. Of course you guys are getting nute lock your either not checking your PH levels and adjusting right or are over fertilizing.

I have never had a problem with FF

You say that FFOF is for newbies you sure about that buddy

FF is just A all around great soil and it's easy to use, I would not reccomend using a soiless mix for a first time grow as they will have to know how much nutes to start seedling or cuttings off with, as opposed to FFOF it contains enough worm castings and bat guano to feed plants and seedling for 3 weeks.

For nutrients, I use Jack's Classic All Purpose (20-20-20) for veg, and that combined with Jack's Classic Blossom Booster (10-30-20) for flower, as well as molasses about once a week. Jack's Classic have worked well for me, and cost a fraction of some of the more well known nutes.

I buy Scott's Premium Potting Soil, from Home Depot. Haven't had any problems with it.

If you can afford it, start out with an HID light - you can get a 400w at HTG supply, for $119 plus shipping, lots of extra options you can add.
www.htgsupply.com
If not - go for CFL's - 6500K for vegging, 2700K for flower.

OMG guys. bruno is a ROOKIE. a NEWBIE. and you want him to play with a 1000 watts HP and 30 plants?! are you out of your mind? it's probably more than he can chew! chance is he'll kill 80% of his plant being it's his first time and all these stuff is expensive and all these nutes are just plain BULLSHIT. stop believing the hypes unless your trying to win a MJ international 1st place GOLD CUP.

i recommend 3 plants the most for a newbies. if you can handle more than go ahead and drop more seed in a pot. the reason why is unless you buy it online you dont know if that plant will come out a male. AND on top of THAT alot of newbies make mistakes. it happens. my first grow wasnt successful and i learn from it. so chance is one or 2 of ur plant might died depending how much attention you give them.

the number one mistake newbies make is OVERWATERING. try to keep this in ur head at all cost. you do NOT want to overwater your paint it's not gonna speed up ur growth.

ima leave my argument to that. if you wanna go my way just sent me a pm.

I have always had good results with vitalink a and b veg and same brand bloom works out about £15 a for the a and b veg and £15 for bloom. The hydrophonic version of this product can also be used on soil based plants. One small added extra is i like to add a little buddy after second week of flowering. For 15 pound you will get 2 one litre bottles of veg and same for bloom. This will last a small operation a while you only need 4ml of each per litre.

The soilless mix is easyer because you can just flush it and its stablized for ph levels. Its hard to go wrong with it. The soil acts as a buffer and tends to hold the nutrients and release them slower to the roots. BUt these newbies should lower there nutes and flush every four weeks and they wont have a ph lock out as long as the water is ph leveled. Does fox farm contain lime? i havent used that stuff. I do tables of 4'x8'x10" and i use... 3 bags of promix..One small rare earth container...batguono for bloom(use two rare earth containers for each table) 1 Large bag of wormcasting. 500 grams of oxycal per table. Bio Culture roots B. Mix it all up water it down and then plant. Water again with a qaurter strenght hyrdoponic recipe. And a B1( i use aussietonic it works great) For 1-7 weeks i have a recipe for kush. I found this recipe and i have changed it up for kush... I felt that the first two weeks of the recipe was a little strong for kush as being it doesnt like the nutes early on.

Take this to heart use Advanced Nutrients. JUST DO IT. U wont regret it . blaze on motherfuckers.

No need to use AN it's all too expensive and IMO it's a bunch of bolonga, you're better off starting off with some inexpensive nutrients like fox farm nutes, GH as mentioned earlier, I personally use GH's Organic line it works well for me and it's very easy to use and inexpensive.

this guy is wrong to. the most common mistake is over feeding. Under watering small containers is a big problem to.

I'm with Mr.smileyface on the soil-less point. It's the resiliency to mistakes of soil with the strengths of hydroponics.

Sunshine Mix #4 and a decent foundation of, say, Advanced Nutrients and you can't go wrong. Forget all the "entire line" BS you'll hear. The only people who beat that drum are the retailers and the people who deliberately misunderstand AN's nutrients so they can rant about them.

Just stick with the base nutes and maybe a bloom booster or two, and you'll be good.

Whatever you do, keep it simple the first time. You may learn more from failure than success, but you smoke more from success. And you can always complicate things to your liking later.

I never did like using soil with nutes already added. I like to have more control than that over what my plants get. As far as noobies needing help because they dont know how much of what to use. I learned a trick that might help. READ THE FRICKING LABELS. I grow hydro now, so I dont have to mess with it anymore.
