generally you can place the lamp about two feet away however u need to start farther if the plant is young or its been in a lower light setup and bring the lamp closer over time. I've seen commercial grows where the lights were about 6 or 8 ft from the canopy.

So if I'm in a 6x7foot closet the 1000 watt shouldn't be to much as long as I keep the temp down an about 2 ft from my plants ?

Thank you this chart helps but right now it's about 17in right now an my grow space is a 6x7foot closet is 1000wats to much ?? Or am I ok as long as I keep temps down ?
What makes you think 1kw is too much?
Heres the deal, every once in a while you'll get a plant thats sensitive to light saturation (top of plant will bleach, turn lime green), when this happens all you can do is back the light off. If your plants are still nice and green after a week at 17", then ill say your good to go. You cant just guess the light distances, you need to make sure your plants can handle it. For example, i can take my blue dream cuts down to 8" from the glass during flower and they STAY dark green however, if i do that to my malawi crosses then they will bleach like a bitch.

Alright that makes since an I understand don't guess where the light needs to be that's why I am asking haha I just had some people tell me it's to much light in the area but they seem to be fine (plants)my temps settle around 75-76 I think thays alright ?

My Method: Stick your hand under the light at tip of cola. If you can't stand the heat after a few minutes the plant don't like it either. Talk to the plants, they talk back.

I'd be concerned with a 1000 watter in a closet for a few reasons but if you're careful you can pull it off but yes, 1000watts can go to about a couple feet from the canopy...do it slowly so as not to burn anything.

I like that you are being honest with me so in this case I have a dimmable 1000watt balast you think I should mabey dim it a little to help or does that matter ?

there is a lot of research about plants talking to each other....it is absolutely true that they do...for example when there is a pest problem on one plant in a forest plants nearby will produce toxins to repel the pest. its easy enough to research. similarly, insects can pinpoint stressed plants from chemicals excreted from the plant. there's a lot going on that is unseen.

great that u can dim the light...start out at like 50% power and raise it over a week or so.

so you're about half way through your grow. really, 75% power is more than enough to produce some nice dank. if it were me I probably wouldn't use the whole 1000 watts. 1000 watts can give u a footprint of about 4ft x 4ft....and u only have one plant in there. so ease up on the power consumption. save yourself a little money and you'll still get some beautiful results.
Here's a sucks pik of where my light is now an I am about 4and1/2 weeks through flower this might let you see better should I be at like 75% power or keep it at 100?

No man I don't have just 1 plant in there haha there is actually 5 all together an that's very good to know thank you I appreciate the help so even with 5plants I'm assuming stick with 75% ?
