So my 400w hps that i got from HTG supply is a piece of crap. It worked fine for about the first month and a half, but now It goes out every time the ac comes on, or if i start a load of laundry. I have checked all of the electrical and came to the conclusion its the light. i turned the ac off and the temp has leveled out at about 86. It was at a constant 78. So my question is, is 86 to hot? If it is would it be ok to put a few fluorescent lights over her? she is about 3'6" and 21 days since seeing the first pistols. I dont know what to do and im so close to being done.. any advice would be appreciated.

86 is a little high but not too bad

def put some cfls up, you dont want to risk herming your plants with that light going off all the time

Is it tripping a circut or is just the lamp or the ballast going off. I'm no electrican, but I think a 400w lamp and ballast needs not to be plugged in with other things.

I would plug it in to its own recepticle and run everything else off a power strip or other plugs.

Im going to watch it but i dont think it will go off any more. I just turned the ac off completely, that's why the temp went up.

The light going out when the AC/laundry is on is *NOT* a prob of the light.
Its dropping out because of a drop in voltage from the extra current draw.

You need to check more closely to the house wiring/distribution an load balancing.

Quick Q: since its AC or laundry related, is the light a 240VAC light?

86 is good - you could resort to warm spectrum floros, but you need like 240w, or you'll end up with popcorn. Can you supplement with some natural sunlight?

ive moved it to 5 different recepticles
We determined on the other thread that your problem is with the main voltage, and could even be the power companies fault. I had the same problem, and it had nothing to do with my lights or the wiring in the home.

well the temp just went up to 87. Should i just go buy a shit load of fluorescent tubes and put around and over it? Im running out of options.

ya you should put a few floro tubes or cfl bulbs around it

do you have a fan in there? that would help too

Hopefully you can find some cheap shop lights or something.

I'd go with 3 (double tube) 4' fixtures, and use all warm white 40W bulbs, and set them up vertically around the plant.
