It would be true if you were pulling air in through a scrubber and then your hood. If all you are looking to do is cool a 1k w hood, you can get an 8" inline fan that will do the job. Just make sure you pull air through the hood, not push it through.

Is it a 6" duct hole on your hood? If so, this is the fan I use for this purpose.

Elicent is an Italian brand. They are relatively quiet and heavy duty. They give out massive static pressure. As in, you put your hand in front of it and are like, "wow...that mofo is blowing some serious air". I'm no expert, but I'm told that CFMs don't mean as much as static pressure does. Again, just what I'm told. At any rate, I'd go with this style of fan. Be it elicent, vortex, canfan, or even ecoplus. Hope this helps!

CFM is how much air a fan will move with no resistance. Static pressure is a measure of the resistance. Add a filter, ductwork with bends etc and you increase the static pressure. It is good to have a fan that will move air under static pressure such as a good inline fan or a blower.

Also, you cannot just dump the air immediately outside your tent. It will cause the intake air to warm up and you will still have a problem. You need cool fresh air supplied to your tent to handle the heat issues, a fan is only going to do part of it.

Hi Dankasaurusrex, My hood duct holes are 3.5 or 4 inch, but was hoping to get an adapter from 4 to 6 inch or larger if needed. I need it powerfull enough to pull air through a carbon filter or a type of filter that eliminates smells and odors during my flowering periods. Thanks CW
