I messed up

I got an hlg 320 54 but the a one so I can't dim. What does one do, should I use more boards to make it a slightly more well rounded light cause 2 qb 96s are pretty strong a full output when there is only 2 on a 300 watt driver.
 
I run two qb96's on an hlg-320h-54a, right now they are dimmed to about 160 watts total. There should be two round black tabs you can remove to access the potentiometers to dim. You'll need a phillips screwdriver. You'll also want one of those small dc multimeters for each driver, or a kill a watt.

You must have the 54 (not a or b), I don't believe there's dimming on that one.

The good news is the 96's are beasts, and two can handle the full power of the driver with a little active cooling. A PC fan on each heatsink would do nicely.

That's true I just wanna maximize my light usage and prefer dimming. Would adding a 3rd light to the circuit help keep the lux output down on each light or should I just put the 2 lights super close together and make a super spot light?
 
Adding a third light would help keep them cooler, give you a bit more efficiency, and improve your coverage, as one of the advantages to the 96 is their wide spread. It is better to have more sources of light spread out across the canopy, so I would space them out as evenly as possible. Then you just have to raise/lower them to control light intensity at the canopy level.

oof ok ill probably do that as returning this thing would be a whole hassle and I might as well use it for something
