Don't get me wrong, buds are great to stare at for minutes on end too...
But I can't get over the look and feel of a thick, strong main stem.

I swear I am not gay.

Dude...I was just burning one out in my garden. I was enjoying the texture of the stems...they are so thick! I cannot wrap my fingers around them. What a great feeling! Oh and they feel nice lol

That is one of my genius ideas. It is a circle of chicken wire, with weed cloth spread inside, filled with soil of my own making. I dug a deep hole and treated the soil within it. I placed the weed cloth circle within the hole, and buried it half way in the ground. I can now pour tons of treated water right on to its thick root ball which has developed within the circle. Roots have went down one and a half feet, came out of the tube, and have spread into the surrounding soil. There are a lot of roots popping out of the ground, at the surface!
The plant is around 11 or 12 feet tall (that is a 6 ft ladder).

Nothing like those beasts you guys grow out in NorCal, but I am proud of her as a NEW YORKER

Thanks, mae. :) Next year I will use a larger circle to get a larger ball of feeder roots.

Yep she is tall! 11 or 12 I believe. She is one of 4 hybrid seeds I planted (pulled it out of a 1/8 of indoor I got in Fort Collins, CO) and definitely the most sativa pheno.
She towered 50% above her fellow sprouts 2 days after popping.

its huge, i wanna meditate next to it
A guy I know that lives around me will grow brick Mexican seeds this big, except they resemble small Christmas trees they are so full (he starts indoors in Feb.). Biggest plants I have ever seen in person. The stem and stump (which is usually 6 to 8 inches wide) is completely hidden by the 360 degrees of branches. His bottom branch is usually a few inches in girth. He says he usually gets 1 pound per plant.
I don't get nearly as much sun as him, and honestly have never grown sativas in this area, so I have never had a plant this big. I am eagerly anticipating the yield, as I have no idea how much this sucker will bring. I am guessing 8 ounces?

Does the mexican weed he grows come out good?

His weed definitely looks beautiful, as for its potency.. I can't say for sure. He smoked me up on it a few times and I did get high, but the thing is, this guy is a complete addict and will not give out even a calyx. He will smoke you up, but won't give a sample. And for me, I have to be in my personal space with my own utensils to judge potency. Someone else told me their opinion and it wasn't a good one, but he tends to have some wacky reactions to weed, so I take that with a grain of salt.
I took a cellphone pic of his babies a few years back, and do have the old phone laying around somewhere, I will try to find the charger and get the pic up.

As for her being ready when harvest time comes, I am hoping (since it is a hybrid after all), but my area is notorious for mold, so I will have to keep a close watch.
Also, once the leaves fall, they will be in view of my neighbors front door. Not the worst thing, because the old man is cool, but now his kids live with him again and I am not so sure about them. Only time will tell!
Also, her 3 sisters have leaf spot and it is starting to progress on them. She has shown a resistance like no other (partially due to growth characteristics but I am guessing her expressed genes too) but I fear that she will eventually show signs of infection.

Sorry for rambling, just blazed up some nice Master Kush

That looks great!
Be careful with that top left branch, though. It looks like it could split. I had to experience this HORROR of stem love this year.

I came out one morning during veg. after a rain storm when the branches were soaked and found one of my topped plants (a fork) split down the center. Easy fix, and the plants usually recover very well (it did), but the feeling you get when finding a cracked branch is terrible.
From now on if I have a branch like that I will wrap it before it breaks! I was taught to wrap it in duct tape so this doesn't occur but I tend to take my teachings for granted sometimes. Even though I would never use duct tape, I should have done something.
I learned the hard way.

Sometimes, when its late at night, I like to go and check out the stalks on my plants. I truly appreciate a nice healthy stem in its prime, and to this day am often amazed by them. I remember my first time with a real stalk like it was yesterday. Just a young lad, I had no idea what I was doing. I had seen it before in movies, but nothing could have prepared me for the real thing. I was fortunate, my first time was gentle, and she showed a genuinely heartfelt concern for my needs. She was nurturing, and made me totally comfortable just before opening my eyes as wide as possible and blowing my mind completely.
I will never forget that stem, that warm nostalgia that comes over me when I think back to that glorious experience. The fear, the raw excitement, the trembling of my hands as they reached out for pure glory..
