I killed 20 seedlings in a week what am I doing wrong !HELP!

I am in desperate need of help. I killed nearly 20 newly hatched seedlings and I can't understand why.
I germinated them correctly and they sprouted, some even grew there second set of leaves.
Then after about a week they started wilting and now they are all dead.
What the hell is wrong with me.

I am using a converted wardrobe cooled by 2x 120mm PC fans. 1 to bring in fresh air and the other to exhaust. Temperature does not exceed 30degrees c.

I think I might have went overboard with the lighting dow. I am using a 250w flourescent 6400k its fairly large and puts out a lot of lumens, and that is housed in an E40 type grow room reflector. A digital timer controls the light at 18/6.

The soil I have been using is Miracle Grow Potting Mix on its own no perlite. It said on the bag that ther is enough nutrients to last 3 months before adding additional food.

I watered only when the top inch of soil was crusty dry using bottled mineral water fed through a mist sprayer.

However this deppressing set back will not hold me back, I am determined to produce a good crop of weed.
But I need some advice from what I could possibly be doing wrong before I go out and buy more seeds.

the miracle gro might be the problem, everything else sounds spiffin with your setup.

try an experiement, put a batch of three seeds in 2 pots of miracle gro, and 2 seeds in a pot of normal soil.. see what happens.

its the only way to find out bro

could be your dirt. how far away is your light? ferts for seedlings is considered bad or not necissary till veggie mode. it sounds like you do have big lights but if they are too far or too close stretching or burning end result dying. try taking half the miracle grow soil out and save it for another day then add half native dirt. make sure the dirt is free of debris as can be. that will get you started. make sure your lights are properly placed

How close did you have the light to the babies? I've been using a 150w CFL about 2-3 inches away from mine with no ill effects, Fluro's mild lights anyway and its unlikely you cooked your plants with too much light.

You may well have been underwatering them, I usually soak mine initially and then give them a good fat splash every other day after.

its probably the mineral water you used the ph has to be perfect the only water you shud use is either tap water or rain water if you use that the ph level is exactly right

thats a good point. theres no telling what kind of minerals they added after treating the water. the minerals are added in water to enhance taste so it wouldnt suprise me

So it could be a combination of wrong water and wrong soil. I will get that sorted when I get my next load of seeds.
I was told tap water is a bad idea but I will give it a go.
Thanks for your advice.

you can use the MG if you pull out all of those little green nute balls from the soil. ill bet these nutrients are what killed your babies. 0/20 is a pretty depressing statistic man, but dont get discouraged your set up is good, and your only problem is you havent heard of MG killing small plants

seedlings require "no" nutrients for almost 2 weeks. if you feed them too early, it can be fatal. mg can work well if you know how to use it. personally, i'd steer clear of it. instead of mineral water, use tap that has sat out for 24 hrs. or bottled drinking/spring water from wally-mart. some folks don't even let tap sit out for 24 hrs. and do well. ph is key, you'll need to control it. then again, i have a friend who does well and has "no" meters. in a cab, things can dry up quickly, keep an eye on em....

yea i had a big problem with MG mix, but that usually wont do it by itself, but it defiantly is worth using somthin else. That shit is junk and comes full of bugs. So switch your soil and try again. And what is a 250w floro ?
oh and i always use tap water (city water) . but it is better in some places to go ahead and get bottled water..... my guess is your water is fine... that mineral water wont hurt them.... the mg probably caused this..

people have grown in MG with good results but some do get killed off by it . I prefer my own mix , nute free and I feed it myself . seedlings are very tender . I put in 5 seeds and only 4 germinated , out of the 4, 3 sprouted , well all 4 sprouted but 1 dried up due to lack of care. bottom line changedat soil
