put hand at top of plants if to hot for your hand to hot for your plants use that method seems to work fine for me

start at a couple feet and move lower over a week. that's a lot of light.

I believe with a 1k should be 2-3 feet from the tops. If the seedlings can handle it you'll have some monsters fast.

Here's a couple of charts. I keep mine at about 30" really depending on the strain you could get closer.
