Yeah, I just call them LED TV's because it's easier.
I just don't get LED's....Someone enlighten me

For growing competitively with hps, I think led's are the best high efficiency option for flowering. They offer the best combination of intensity and spectrum.
Induction is not that new. I own an indagro, and I love the spectrum but the output technology is pretty fixed. With led's, there are huge increases in output almost yearly. Inductions will basically always have the same output, the only way to increase is to add wattage. I think that two of the 400w inductions could be equal to a 1000w hps in performance. And would run way cooler, saving energy there too. So they can be better than HID and save energy($$), but is it enough. I just don't know how long they can fend off led's advancements.
To me plasma has yet to show it's the next big thing, but it could. They suffer from the same problems that led's did in the beginning...low intensity, low coverage, and high cost for all(manufacturers and consumers). There are only a few players in the plasma industry anyway, so no one is pushing the efforts and tech forward that hard. The gavita plasma's can get pretty warm compared to some of the led's I've seen. The gavita plasma is the only one I have seen in person. They do have a truer "full spectrum" but I'm not sure if it's better tuned for photosynthesis than some of white led full spectrums.
All comes down to cost, and all the good new tech is $$$$. And seeing as hps isn't exactly failing, it's hard to argue the cost to some people. But the tech is there.
