I have to start over *outside*. Any suggestions. AUTOFLOWER?

My plants, even though they’re only 12” high, have started to flower. It’s my 5th year, and this is the 1st time ever for this to happen. I’ve grown them the SAME way every time. They’re started in the SAME place in starter cups as the garden is so there is no change in light/temperature when transplanted (I’ve got another thread & all these questions asked & answered). They started to flower a week after transplanting from starter cups to 15 gal pots....IN THE SAME AREA..the GARDEN. Didn’t move them anywhere...SO, no reason for it at all.

That being said:
I HAVE TO START OVER. I was told the plants will reveg when the light hits 14 hours (next month), and I guess just wither? Not sure, but too many have said may as well kill them now as to try to get them to live......

MY QUESTIONS:
Since it’s so late, if I start with regular seeds, can I expect them to mature by November (our first freeze is usually late November, but it starts getting cooler late Oct)?
and,
What about AUTOFLOWER? I’ve never grown those, but heard you can have two crops a year. I know they don’t grow very tall. Do they produce much? Do I need to know much more about them?

You can get more than two a year actually with autos. Most veg for around 4 weeks. Here's an auto at late week 6 of flower indoor. They usually run between 7-10 weeks for flower, and veg anywhere from 2-4 weeks.

I've got between 80-130g from the autos I've grown outdoors previously, but they took a bit longer due to the smaller days. They prefer 16 hours and up.

You don't have as much control, but they will yield if you get good genetics...you can easily do 3 runs a year outdoors with autos, as most do well in the cold as ruderalis is native to India, Kazakhstan, Russia and Europe.

The problem is that they can stress flower earlier if weaker genes, and generally have less thc. For example the glue cookies auto has around 17%-19% THC where's as the phot has 23%. They like to go straight into 3 gallon pots as well.

Here's one of the smaller autos I didn't train last year. Half way through flower. Ended up taking 12 weeks from seed and got 85g of solid and some popcorn. One of the smaller and quicker ones.

Less light and cold weather will prolong the maturity a bit as well...I've found they yield similar in winter, but flower takes a bit longer.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to start a other photoperiod grow starting now.

Autoflowers can grow tall and they can produce a lot. Some of the factors that determine that will be the strain you pick and grower skill. People have pulled over a pound from one autoflower.

Things to know.. any stress, deficiencies, or other set backs will impact your yield. They flower based on time not light schedule so you won't have control over that. GL.

They look really nice! Do you mind telling me what strain they are? The buds are much longer than any I've ever grown (I think. It' hard to tell now that I looked again, but definitely large!).

This is going to be a new adventure for me, for sure. I'm getting older, so things like this don't come as easy as they used to :p . We worked really hard getting all those plants transplanted last week...it took all day for 24 plants. I'm ill & too weak to lift the bags (I did last year & my back still hurts!...I won't learn easily). So, that's one reason I'm thinking about Autoflower. In pots, I think I've read that they go in smaller ones. Do they?

Do you have a picture? May not be a total loss. If you have the space just run them with some new plants.

The indoor is a gorilla glue #4 auto and the outdoor was a bagseed of hermied BCN Critical crossed with some wild ruderalis seeds a mate found in Kazakhstan last year, so it's an unstable hybrid.

The one in the tent isn't as large as it looks, but the main colas do connect well, and they should fatten up over the next 3 weeks. It's only a 100x50 tent and the plant stands around 85cm from the medium, so not a big as you might think. On pot size, autos do well in 2 or 3 gallon pots, but if you want to be safe, a 5 gallon pot would be fine outdoors. They just don't have the veg time to take advantage of larger pots. I've seen a few breeders do side by sides over a few generations, and due to the 12 week from seed average, the 3 gallon pot was only a fraction behind the 5 gallon, but the 2 gallons pots were a bit less.

I don't know about outdoor autoflowers but indoors I use the same size containers as my photoperiods.

bigger pot outdoors is better or youll be watering everyday in late flower. miss a water and youll have some big problems in summer heat. i add a little bit of moisture retaining crystals to make it hold more water
if you place them.near the bottom when the plant is small just top feed a bit. in late flower you can water from the top and bottom and let the crystals suck up some water
thats what i do anyways. it gets hot as hell in my backyard in july/aug

Makes sense. I don't know if I can go through all that again after already doing 24 plants. I know I can't wait long, so I'll see...

Reveg shouldnt kill the plants. They'll have some weird looking deformed veg growth for a few weeks when they transition back to veg, but they'll eventually go back to normal veg growth.

That's good to know. I've also gotten the same information on anotherforum. Someone did mention something about pruning---severely. What's your experience with that?

Even more good news. I'm studying what I can find online, too. Since it's new to me, I want to know all I can. Most of what I've been reading has been in forums. I've posted in several. I've been spending a lot of time going back & forth....so, on my way to Dr Google!
