how long should it take before my cuttings have roots showing ?
Well it really depends on the set up you are using.. With my most recent, it took about 2.5-3 weeks to see the roots out the bottom of the pot. I bought 4 small pots for .25 each. I did not use any rooting gel or powder. I just cut at a 45 degree angle and placed into moist organic soil. I watered from the bottom with a tray. Now it took 2.5-3 weeks to see it come out the bottom, but whn i transplanted it, the plant already had a nice little root ball wrapping all over the pot so it looks like it actually rooted well before that.. usually from what I have head its about 1-2 weeks usually and if you have some of the more advanced set ups for cloning it can be cut down to less than a week.

Like Nuthin said... it all depends. You can use a cloner an get roots really fast, or just snip an plant. I prefer to cut, scour the stem, dip in rootin hormone, an plant in a jiffy pot. I think jiffy is the better way to go than straight into soil. The roots can grow through the jiffy material. No root ball or possibility of it gettin root bound.

Here is a cutting that was topped on 5-22.

Here is same cutting on 6-2

A dedicated cloner will probably cut the time in half for root growth.
