Insecticides are dangerous poisons. The most common symptomatic effects would be salivation, bradycardia (slowing heart rate) and mental confusion. The problem with these poisons is that they permanently block (covalent bonding versus normal ionic bonding) some very important biological receptor sites/enzymes within the body that control all sorts of key homeostatic functions. As this process rapidly progresses the unfortunate victim will begin to experience muscle paralysis that can ultimately lead to death from a lack of respiration and/or asystole (stopped heart). If caught early it can be treated. As an aside this is also the basis upon which several chemical weapons are designed and that is why soldiers in combat carry autoinjectors of 2-pam chloride (to reverse the poison) and atropine (to increase heart rate). Good luck with the rest of your stash dude.
Note: next time you think you have smoked insecticide consider consulting the EMS service in your area for guidance rather than 'roll-it-up'...just a thought.
Wow, old post.
I don't like the sound of that.... permanent? I just googled and found this thread because I accidently ingested some bug spray today. Let me explain....
I'm an educated professional who uses MJ casually. About 3 or 4 times a week.
I live on an island and we have a big roach problem. I saw two crawling around my computer and zapped them with some spray. I must have gotten a little non-direct spray on my bong by accident. Not much later I smoked a bowl from it. Right away I felt a hot flash go through my body and my mouth tasted funny and then went numb. I got nauseous and had to run to the bathroom (I don't vomit much when I'm real sick, instead I, well, you know - have to go). I felt dizzy and had the shakes. Minor muscle twitching too. I was mad at myself for being so careless with something so dangerous.
I would consider all of the symptoms mild to moderate. Except the feeling of stupidity. Severe feelings of doing something irresponsible and dumb were present, lol.
I drove to the hospital (again, small island - no traffic - not endangering others) but did not check in. I wanted to see if it went away. Within an hour of smoking I felt MUCH better and went home without chekcing in. Now, I feel pretty normal, maybe a bit tired.
Did I do permanent damage? Am I at risk of paralysis? I wouldn't think so - the poisoning was so mild, but reading your post obviously is disturbing. Can you elaborate for me?
Realize I don't need to be scared straight. I'm not the type to even smoke much let alone smoke bug spray. It was an idiotic accident.
Thank you.
