Now if ive been veggin 4 plants under t5's for like almost 4 months
and i still want to veg them for another 2 weeks
can i change the light from a t5 to hps and still keep the plants in veg for 2 weeks then change them to 12 and 12

will the hps light hurt them in the veg stage or will the plants grow more because my hps puts out a lot more lumens then the t5s?

Im no expert but i dont think they will hurt them at all..some people grow with just a hps from start to finish i think youll be fine

how big are your plants? they must be huge after 4 months! and theres no reason why not to use the hps, it wont hurt the plants
although hps do put out more lumens , you have to take into account that you'll need to put the plants very far away from them, so you'll have to apply the inverse square rule , as light decreases exsponentially. and hps produces mainly red light which is great for flowering but crap for leafy growth, so you can do it but it won't be very efficient and i wouldnt be surprised if it would be better to shock them with 12/12 super red hps light that will create rapid growth that will giv u the heavy thick bud i assume your looking for.
but its up to you.
hope that helps

i think i might just stay with the t5's for 2 more weeks and just change the light when i start to flower.

and 2 pics and 2 of the plants

all 4 are right around the same size
but i want them to be bigger

so i can get 6+ oz off each plant.

the plants are all feminized

which to the hps Now man for sure. will definitely add some bulk i wouldnt see Any reason not to switch now if power or heat's not an issue. just think if you had used the hps the whole time :wall:

i would swtich. how strong is the hps? if it is really strong and you had a really weak fluro then i would start the hps really far away (espically if a 1k) and move it down every day until you get to the ideal distance.

Those things are going to be massive 2 weeks into 12/12! How much room are you growing in and how many watts HPS?

put sum pics up too!
and i should mention that red light increases the chances of males and hermies

Untrue statement - HPS has nothing to do with sexing a plant and, as a matter of fact your plants have already determined their sex - they just haven't shown it yet.

You can switch lighting at any time with negligible effects - run HPS during veg, lots of people do with no discernable ill effects. Shift em over to 12/12 when you like, no worries mate.

i have 4 of those plants in a 2 ft by 5ft closet .
i had it both doors closed last time and had some heat issues.
so i think i might open one whole side of it.

i got a kick ass 1000 watt hps system.

so the only thing i didn't want to do was put the hps and make the plant sick before i start to flower cause of the heat being to much.

for the last 10 days of veg what will make the plant grow taller?

4-4 foot t5's(work very well)?

or

1000 watt hps(works well too)?

which one?

plus whats the highest temp you want to have in your grow room for flowering?

The plant will stretch during the first portion of flower - often as much as 100% + compared to their size at the shift of lighting sked. A 3 foot veg plant can easily become a 6 ft lady. The highest temps I personally like during any stage is mid 80's, though I try & keep it below that.
And 1000 w of HPS trumps any t5's made. More light = more/faster growth.

where did u hear red light causes males or hermies? i find that hard to believe
jorge cervantes states it in his book; indoor marijuana horticulture , and he thanked dutch passion breeders for allowing him to access some of their growing information
and if my statement seemed confusing, i didnt mean red light causes hermies or males but increases the chance of hermie or males by a very small percentage

if you say so
and a plants sex isnt determined from seed, thats completely untrue, otherwise plants wouldnt be able to turn hermie at all (obviously!), you can influence seedling from the first node to increase the chances of either male or female sex
and i said you can use hps for veg but its just very inefficient as it increases a relativly low level of photosynthetic active radiation for leafy growth
big bright light doesnt equal big plant necessarily , you can have a 1000w incandescent bulb but it will still be shit, technology of lights has moved on.
