I know im new to this site but i definately know what im doing. And love to experiment, in school i excelled in horticulture....love science and here i am...lol
Ok so what i did was take a cutting off of my female plant that has been in flower for about a month. I took a bottom branch a really woody hardy branch that hadnt grown pistils yet.
I took the top of that plant and cut it under water to make sure no air bubbles. I cut three little grooves on each side of the stem and dipped it in a root hormone powder i got frome home depot. Its in a little red bottle for like 5 bucks. I then put it in a jiffy peat plug, the kind that swell when you water them put a bag over it and put it straight into 12/12 time. as i only have one grow area....And check it out, it does work....Averaging the clones i have done it takes about 2 weeks give or take for roots to show....
The coolest part is i clone a bottom branch, not the top and i have two new branch sprouts growing at the nodes...check it out...incredible.
IT CAN BE DONE....

Also if you look in the pic of the bigger plants you can see a second potted clone that i also rooted in 12/12..its doing very very well...

Many of us take cuttings at two weeks of flowering, four weeks would be the end of the envelope IMO. I did 40 from 8 week flowering plants , once. Hope to not ever have to do that again. Thanx for the pics, we like pictures. VV

Not to rain on your parade but this is done all the time, between 2 weeks and a month. The best time is when it first shows which is around 2 weeks max.

Not to rain on yours but i dont take tips or shit from anyone with 15 posts...Im talking about 5 and 6 weeks anyways....
I have never seen so much hate and bullshit on a site before i swear. You think your being informative and making improvements in the game and people with 15 posts cant do nothing but try and bring people down...Ummm, dont mean to burst your bubble but just because you read that somewhere on this site doesnt mean shit. And this isnt just my rant its for everyone who is sick of negative bullshit...Whatever happened to nice job....

Nice job. Ha ha. I just started 12/12 today and I am thinking I might need to trim the bottom branches but shouldn't waste them. Looking foward to planting them and rooting!

Hi HI

I like to wait until day 14 of FLOWERING to clone...

yes DAY 14 of FLOWERING...

This is not standard protocol or wisdom from most growers... BUT it will be soon... especially when dealing with CFL growing and EARLY flowering of small healthy plants..

BY day 14 of flowering the plant has usually tripled in size (we are talking about a small 4-6 node plant) and developed several low branches that make great clones... These branches will have 2-4 nodes .. great for cloning and yet, they are so low on the plant that they can not produce any significant bud... (because of inadequate light)

At 14 days, the plants CLONES will not be so far along in flowering and should root easily in 2-10 days....

I can't believe I am replying to this...

yes you can clone a flowering female that is 4+weeks into flowering.. but.. the real question is.. WHY? After 2-4 weeks into flowering the plant is committed to flowering; cloning from that point on will get you a clone that is stuck in the flowering phase. You CANNOT revert it to the vegetative stage at this point (even with 24 hours light)...

And don't get too technical about it.. yeah maybe you could revive your baby clone after flowering is complete for another go-around, but I seriously doubt it with how much energy the plant would need to do that.

All in all.. not a great idea, but yeah you could do it.

The thing is im not trying to revert anything....;) I just want more bud...maybe im not being specific enough....? And i did notice that i left for work today and it got way hot in the closet this afternoon and the clones got nice and yellowed up...some are still green and doing nice. But the others might not make it...Its ok it was an experiment. I really am just waiting for my main girl to get done flowering so i can plant some bb cheese, orange bud, afghan kush, white widow, bleu berries and more....

Information like this is why I joined this site!!!

I am in day 2 of flowering and was just sitting in my flowering room admiring my beauties when I noticed so many young budsites at the bottoms that it made me sad; knowing that none of them will be getting enough light to amount to anything. I just thought what a shame I already went 12/12.

Then I decided to jump on to RIU and see if I could find info on cutting clones during the flower cycle. Well, only a few minutes later I had my answer!

You guys rock!!!

try this take a clone from a flowering plant take the bottom as they wont get the light they desrve.put under 24/7 it will go back to vegin now mind u it will look like a freak but it will grow sprouts like crazy.after about 30 days go back to 12 12 .i do this and have about 10 to 15 bud sites now do sog it works great..........

Okay i havent been on in a couple days so i have alot to talk about....lol
Kaya08 you can get them at home depot and wal-mart...I got mine at Home Depot, they are noramlly on a big display with a bunch of seed packets right before you go outside. i also got some new soil, the jiffy seed starting soil is so light and airy its great for the clone root growth. roots love the oxygen. But i mix the jiffy soil with another soil i wouldnt use just that....;)
Here are some new pics of the clones in action, so i had a heating issue and most of the leaves yellowed and died....but today i clipped them and looking good...
Now since my other female plants are to far along to produce seed im going to use my one male i have to pollinate a couple of my clones so i can have seed...and just think this is also an excellent way to get seed from a female plant without pollinating some of the plant and risk getting your girl way to seedy...just cut a branch grow it in 12/12 along with the mother then take it out and itroduce it to a male when it gets rooted...;)

What do you mean you can't revert a flowering plant to the veg stage. People do it all the time with re-vegging a previously flowered plant. I've done it, it may take about a month for the plant to turn around, but it's not impossible.
