if it is legal, do some target shooting on your property. you might want to notify your neighbors beforehand. fire off a couple hundred rounds a few times during the week. these punks are looking for an easy score. if you dont make it easy, they will probably look elsewhere. and if they hear gunfire coming from your property, they will probably leave you alone.

oh yeah and...what "idiot" has never climbed a fence...say me and my friends are making a plan to get your crop this weekend, and you do put up a fence...we probaly would have gotten close enough to scope out your house during the week without you knowing and made a plan...the fence you payed money for is 8 feet high, then we all wear our best nike's..you get a dog, we all thawed out some steak...your crops= my lungs...sorry dude, i would say the cheapest and best way to go for the mean time is definitly motion detectors and probaly a cheap camera set form tigerdirect, the cameras would atleast give them some more fear...i say those things because you already said even though you own a gun your not the type of person to approach them...

next time if u dont want to confront them just open back door and blast a round in the air bet they will run and no plant is worth a bullet so i doubt they will come back
