I can taste chlorine through my brewed coffee....

Our drinking water comes from a fresh water lake...However, they also sometimes dump raw sewage into that same lake at times....Having just moved back to this area I did not realize how bad the chlorine was until last night when I brewed a coffee...

It was so bad I could clearly taste the chlorine though the coffee ! Had I not been in my car and driving around I probably would not have drank it...It was so bad...This was the first time it's been this bad....

Anyone think this is going to pose a problem when I go to grow ?

Not if you allow time for the chlorine to leach out. Try filling up a few empty milk jugs or something from your tap & then leave the caps off for a day or 2....that chlorine should evaporate off

Evaporate is the word you are looking for. Chlorine evaporates from the water, adding an aerater to the water can remove the chlorine in as little as an hour. I believe you might want to check to see if they use choramine, havnt researched but I don't think that stuff evaporates out. Most if not all water treatment places send out yearly water reports. Giving you a detailed water analysis. Theres really so saying whether or not you have ussuable water until you have an analysis.

Buy a counter-top R.O. device and use this water to water (and drink)! Not only will it remove the chlorine (so you can use it right away), it will remove all the other nasty's.

I like the taste of my tap water, maybe because I'm weird or I just don't taste anything bad.

I swear I drink some bottled water and it tastes weird but when I drink tap I'm like YEAH THATS THE STUFF!

Nothing beats Poland Spring Water for me though.

Well I have yet to find this years results...But these were the highest levels reported in our drinking water in 2012 if anyone can make sense of these :

chloride 250 mg/liter
chlorine 4.0 mg/liter
fluoride 2.2 mg/liter

average ph was 7.92

Anyone know if it looks like I'll be good to go ? Or am I going to have to take action ?

RO won't remove chlorine unless it has a carbon post filter.

Commercial greenhouses add chlorine to reservoirs to keep pathogens out. So it won't hurt plants. Bennies is another matter if in soil or using them in hydro.

with the RO you will need to add minerals like cal-mag. most tap water has calcium and magnesium along with alot of other minerals. these minerals are needed in the life of any living thing.

Nice thing about RO is you know what's in your nutrients because YOU put it in there. Say goodbye to lockouts and pH swings due to excessive calcium or iron in tap h2o. Important in hydro, maybe not so much in soil.
