I am NOT the oldest person here !

Today I met a new member here named Lid of Weed.

I have not seen that word LID in almost 40 years so I asked him how old he is, and he is 63 years old!!!!

It was so good to find someone OLDER than me here.

Back around '68 and '69 there were no such thing as BAGGIES.
Pot was sold in small paper bags and in small match boxes.
A match box full was called a Nichol Bag and cost $5 and you was supposed to get 3 average joints, or 5 very skinny joints for the $5. It might come in a piece of newpaper or paper sack.
Other than a Nichol or Dime Bag, all we had was LIDS. Pot was not sold by weight or ounces in the beginning. No one had scales. A LID was a Tobacco can, a small flat can and was supposed to be 4 Nichols for $15. You could buy a LID, sell 3 nichols and get a free Nichol to smoke. A LID was three fingers deep in a very small paper bag that was used to put candy or small stuff in at the store.
Or you could buy a pound for $80 to $120, and sell 20 lids to really make some money.
It was Dirt Mexican, lots of seeds and males and leaves and real dirt in it then. NOT very potent either.

Ah i love hearing little peices of history like that, my father had once told me about the lid in almost your exact words, paragraph for paragraph!! He is 65 so he was right there during those days.

we used to buy lids back in the day
also bought a brick once - also called a kilo
and it's true that we smoked the leaves, stems, seeds and all
damn joints used to pop and explode whilst sucking on the things

Dude! Can you score me lid? I haven't said those words in thirty years. When I started stoning, lids were on the way out and ounces were on the way in. An ounce of schwag would cost you 30 bones. Of course, you were paying for about 20 grams of seeds. We ended up saving all our seeds into a five pound bag that caused all sorts of problems trying to do something with it.
Remember the days of Panama Red and Columbian Gold? In those days, if you couldn't roll a fat joint with one hand in half a Top paper, you just weren't cool! Cops back then were pretty harsh too. They would try to bust you for the kind of ASHES you had in the ashtray.

Ahhhh, the good old days. BTW I am 45. Peace.

55 here. First weed was at 14 and a regular user around 15-16. Worked for 1.45/hr and spent $5 per week for some weekend fun. Played in a band and let's just say increased my use dramatically. Columbian sensimila with the red hairs was what we were after with a special treat when the Maui Wowie hit the street. Stopped smoking while the kids were young bit I'm back with avengence!
