About the Republican party and new Congress as it steps into office.

Behnor is going to cut his budget by 5%

They are going to *try* to cut 100 billion dollars out of a 3 trillion dollar annual government spending spree and already I am hearing they might not be able to reach that mark...

So, when thinking about composing this post my initial thought was to say that I was cautiously optomistic about the new congress. Then I realized... I wasnt optomistic at all. Maybe cautiously hopeful...

when considering the actions of any government, merely being hopeful is a sure sign of optimism. the best we can expect from any government is that they only move slowly toward tyranny. the situation we have now is probably the best we can hope for for the people themselves. a somewhat evenly divided senate, a mock conservative majority in the house and a liberal buffoon in the oval office will keep all those political animals at each others throats and give the people a little breathing room. we've seen the carnage wrought by a triple liberal majority. luckily the people realized that their sad attempt to start us down that road toward the nationalization of massive portions of the private sector leads us only to the same sort of destruction we have witnessed elsewhere around the world.

of course the liberal loons are unhappy about losing that massive majority, but they should be happy with the damage they have already done. the far right should be happy as well. they now have some small proof of their foe's foolishness and can busy themselves with setting things to rights. as long as those two forces are busy ripping each other to shreds, the rest of us can go about our lives relatively undisturbed. we can get to the real business of repairing our nation's economy, because it is the people who have always set things back on course. those government experts may take the credit and they may have managed to convince their constituents that they are indispensable, but they have never been anything more than a hindrance.

I have missed you, I think most of us have, welcome back!!

And I agree, the best we can hope for is that they can't come to any more agreements to screw us anymore than they already have. I am most fearful when either the Dems or the Repubs have a majority.

as well you should be. whenever one ideology hold extreme dominance they find themselves free to go after what they most desire, control over the masses.

Same tired rhetoric. This government is on the edge of collapse. It really matters not the party in charge. When the money runs out, and it is moving pretty fast, turn out the lights.

so help me here. are you for the govt take over of all industry in this country or are you for freedom for people to start and manage their own business and life? you say the govt is on the edge of collapse. that would indicate that you think govt fucks things up (a conservative view) but then you argue for them to take over medicine, auto, insurance, banks, wallstreet, etc.

so which is it med, is the govt on the edge of collapse and you want less? or are they on the edge of collapse and you want more?

you really do argue in circles.

i thought you would have figured med out by now. what he really wants is for government to take everything away from those he deems unfit, redistribute that wealth to those poor downtrodden workers he's always saying he supports and then simply go away. it's the same pseudo-anarchist crap that malcontents have always been whining for and it's just as unfeasible now as it always was. government does not simply go away when a job is done. it continues to suck the life out of a society until it is forced to back down. in med's perfect world the government is given so much power that it can never be forced to back down, but he just refuses to realize the consequences of creating the all-powerful state. he's bought into that fantasy of the people controlling government, just as so many other liberal sheep have done.

it's nice to be appreciated, but i haven't really been gone. i've been watching and all that's been posted is the same gibberish, over and over again. the right attacks the left, the left attacks the right and those in the middle are forced to one side or the other. there are just far too many loons acting like experts and experts(?) acting like loons.
