explain your methods...

I hung the entire plant this year or all that I could at once inside an outdoor shed with a fan on low. Dont trim till you are sure they are dry and ready to be jarred.

Dry longer. I hung one strain for like 3 days and then jar'ed and smelled like shit, hung another for like 7 days even though it felt way too dry but when I Jar'ed it bam smelled great. I think its always impatience that creates hay smell.

DJ- In my opinion, trimming all the leaf and cutting individual Nugs off the branches before drying is a BAD IDEA. By hanging whole branches, or whole plants, you are SLOWING DOWN the drying process. Slow dry equals good smell and flavor, fast dry equals grassy smell and minty/"green" chlorophyll taste.

My opinion again: Ditch the drying net and hang whole plants or individual branches with ONLY the big fan leaves removed. If your plants are fully mature, and they hang dry for about a wweek then go into mason jars for a proper cure, they will turn out great.

That sounds logical captain! I believe I will try this drying method.
Most likely i have NOT been drying long enough, along with trimming all my leaves and hanging individual large nugs instead of branches. Thanks man!

There is an Art to Properly drying and Curing Cannabis .. Cool temps and moderate - high humidity with no stagnant air is the key points involved .. Nice and slow is the only way to go , otherwise your pissing away your terpenes as well .. Hence so many posters here with shitty homegrown .. Read up and control the environment that you dry in like the one that you grow in and all should be well if you take the time to learn the craft and art ..

Yup, this is how I do it.

Cut the plant down whole, hang upside down in the dark til branches snap like twigs, take branches from stalk, trim, cure in a mason jar and store in the dark.
Light has a big effect on drying and curing plants.

Keep your temps between 65 and 75f and ur rh between 45 n 50%.. It took me 3 harvest to get the feel for it, It takes me 5 to 6 days to get to the jaring point, I have found that drying too fast gives that hay/ harsh taste, the chlorophyll is trapped inside the bud if it dries to quickly, don't worry about it drying up too much, once you jar the moisture comes back, get an rh meter off amazon or eBay, this is the thread I learned how to cure from https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/514841-perfect-cure-every-time.html follow this threads directions, perfect cure last time, no hay taste and the smell came back, it goes away until u cure it properly IMO
