Hydroton vs. Rockwool Cubes for Hydroponics system

I have a quick question. I'm a new grower and I'm interested in buying a self containing grow box from either BC Northern Lights, or Super Closet... and I've also considered just building my own, but that's besides the point.

I am buying clones locally so I do not have to wait and grow a mother for my first harvest. My question, is if I buy a clone locally that is in dirt, can I transplant it to Hydroton pebbles or a rockwool cube? Also, after germinating a seed, can you immedietly plant it in either of those two, or is soil manditory for that first step?

Thank you for your time! rollitup.org is making my dreaming run wild!

rockwool or hydroton, well it depends on how often you want to feed. I personally have my feed schedule on an automatic timer so i like hydroton because it allows me to feed more. ihydroton is also reusable and i just kind of think rockwool is nasty. as for germinating a seed you can do them in a rockwool cube or something similar and then plant that along with the seedling into the hydroton. and yes you can move a plant from dirt to hydro, its not a great idea and shocks the hell out of them but they can take it. i recomend reading the growers bible before starting a grow of your own, it'll save you a lot of time, money and efffort in the short and long run.

My feed schedule would be automatic. I'm still confused with the nutrients packs I am getting along with my box. I'm still not quite sure if I put it into the water or what. I have a bunch more reading up to do. Thank you all for the support.
